Photographer’s Note
The Pinta is one of the replicas of Christopher Columbus' ships. As an accompanying ship to the Niña , the Santa Clara (aka Pinta) is a floating museum as well as reception platform. An exhibit in her hold shows how the Niña was designed by the collaborative research team and built by traditional shipwrights. Visitors not only get to see the finished product but experience the research and effort behind making a reproduction of a 15th century sailing vessel.
Emilius

Hi Asa,
Hard to belive they sailed across the Atlantic in such a small craft.
Love the stunning lines of the lovely replica against the vivid blue sky with its wispy clouds.
Excellent historic note to go with this wonderfully sharp detailed image.

Bonjour Asa,
peut-être pas me meilleur angle de prise de vue, mais au moins on se fait une idée de ces bateaus qu'on aurait imaginés plus grands.
Une photo bien commentée et interessante.
Regards.
Daniel.

hi Asa
This is a fine TE post to share the historical boat's replica and presenting it on the great blue sky setting. I suppose the wood color tone must be finished with good treatment for the sea condition. A good case of applying UWA lens for this scene.

Am interesting shot, Asa. I like the perspective and the use of the clouds in the background. At first I found the speed boat beside it a bit of a distraction, but it provides some food for thought: The pioneering Pinta, assuming this is to scale, wasn't a whole lot bigger than two or three modern small craft. Imagine going halfway around the world in one of them!

Jim

Hi Asa,
The masts of the Pinta have a graphical effect. The point of view is showing the details and colors of the boat. The picture is clear and precise. The luminosity has a good effect on the colors. Have a nice day.

Hello Asa,
When I see such a spectacle, I become again a child and imagines the voyages and adventures of the intrepid sailors who entrusted their life to such boats. The image is of very good quality. A very interesting subject. Cheer.
Have a nice day

Hi Asa,
Besides showing what looks like a superb replica of that famous ship, it's also a great photo, mostly for its well chosen POV and the good light management, which resulted in great looking colours.

Hello Asa,
When looking at some of the older ship designs it is a wonder they could float left alone sail the seas of the world!!
The point of view works well to give details in the vessel, accurate framing and good sharpness...

asa
very nice pov to show this beautiful replica. we can has an idea about how small these boats were and how dangerous it was that trip, considerating that Columbus wasn't so right about to find something in the other side.

Damn, those caravels sure were a lot smaller than we usually imagine trans-oceanic sailships to be.
To think early explorers would throw themselves on the North Atlantic in those small wooden hulls...
Great angle to show it all, too bad for the red cranes in the background, but we get the idea of what it looked like :)
