Photographer’s Note
Somewhere in South West Texas, not exactly sure, perhaps close to Candelaria, on the way to Big Bend National Park ....

Hi Cristian,The last Picture Show, springs to mind with this image, very evocative could be from the 1930s.The name is apt ,the location looks pretty desolate, but a filling station without pumps?.Thanks Tom.

There is something incredibly nostalgic about it...
The finishing ?
The scene itself ?
Restless 30' ?

I don't what happen, I thought I wrote a critique on this one, didn't go through.
Anyway. I was saying, sometimes an older image not is not the greatest quality is more important to each person due to its sentimental value. This image reminded me of the great depression era, not that I lived through it, but from what I have seen in paintings and photos. There is a sense of lost and loneliness, and sad. the noise is really part of the vintage quality.
thanks

Hello Cristian. An interesting photo. It looks very old. The rough grain lets it look like a picture from silver gel. The photo is very subtle in its abstraction. Best regards, Wolfgang.

I sorta like it. The grain and scan lines actually add some texture to the shot and make it appear much older than 1997. Composition is good and lends itself to the desolation of the shot.

Hi Cristian,
There is an extraordinary atmosphere in this photo.
The place, already, is incredible with this "oasis" (the name is chosen well!) in the middle of nowhere.
The noise brings a kind of mist which gives us the impression to dive outside time, maybe in our dreams of America...
I like it a lot!

A lot of atmosphere here, Cristian, very Texan. You made great use of an old photo. Placing the gas station to one side helps it contrast with the vast empty space it overlooks. One sees scenes sort of like this along Route 66 in the California desert. The grain looks good but it be better not to have those vertical stripes, I think. Regards, Ken.
