Photographer’s Note
YALE UNIVERSITY I — TRUMBULL COLLEGE GATES
Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut is one of the finest academic institutions in the United States, and indeed the world, with no less than 18 Nobel Laureates, 5 US Presidents, and countless other world leaders all affiliated with it during its history. Founded in 1701, it is also the third oldest university in the nation — with only Harvard, in Cambridge, Massachusetts, founded in 1636, and William and Mary, in Williamsburg, Virginia, founded in 1693, beating it in seniority. Yale’s graduate, law, business, and medical schools are all home to prominent scholars. It is, however, the undergraduate school, Yale College, that appears to be the pride of the institution.
This past week I visited Yale in order to give a lecture. The photograph shows the gates of Trumbull College, one of the twelve colleges of Yale. I would like to dedicate this image to my hosts at Yale — Professor Janet Hendrich, Master of Trumbull College, and some of the Turkish students I met: Sinan, Esen, Ahmet, Hande, Yasemin, Dilaver and Firat — none of them members of Trekearth — but all exceptionally bright, all extraordinarily enthusiastic.

Hi Bulent
It almost has a medievil look about it, but then we are talking about the 1700's. Those very unusal doors look like they could be an entrance to some old prison. Great clear and sharp photo. As usual a very informative note.
Cheers

Hello Bulent,
What a gorgeous capture of the beautiful gates of Trumbull College. The sharpness of the shot is superb as are the colors and textures. Every detail is visible. You feel welcome looking at the image with the intriguing peek into the courtyard beyond. It makes you want to go inside and look further. Excellent!

Hallo Bulent!
You show us a truly impressive and somehow "awesome" entrance here - and a name with very good reputation in the world. For European eyes it doesn't look quite American, rather than a well-fortified castle's gate. Well, somehow it's a stronghold of knowledge. An interesting contribution here!
Greetings from at last springlike Germany - and have a nice weekend!

Hallo, Bulent.
Forbidding gates in a very beautiful frame! The architect has produced the perfect composition and you have given it full value in this simple staight-on view. The warm stone colour, outside and inside, complements the cool grey.
Enjoy your weekend,
Winifred

Bulent,
Great shot of this impressive gate. I would have thought that this was a Medieval structure from Europe if I had not read your note. The lighting and colors are great with excellent sharpness and detail. The eye is led through the gate nicely by the lighted courtyard in the distance.

Asa

Hi Bulent, Yale is a famous name which we see on TV and also on teeshirts at times, but this is the first time i have seen the actual buildings from that place. This capture shows much of the tradition and long history of Yale. Many talented folks must have walked through these impressive doors. TFS. Murray.

Hi Bulent,
this frontal catch is full of details and the textures are there thanks to the efficient exposure management. I guess this is the same façade since 1701. It's very well conserved. Very good work!

Hello Bülent,
The fascination of Americans for the antique that they haven't is evident here, isn't it? It reminisce much the Neo-Gothic we find in Europe, or perhaps even authentically medieval if the stone didn't look so new. Well, I guess that it makes sense in an institution that is more than 300 years old. It's a good presentation, that would still be worthy even if it wasn't so achieved, because it seems that it's a première here in TE.
Warm regards, José.

Hello Bulent -
If you had not specified that this was New Haven, Connecticut, I would have assumed it was from an Old World castle. For a simple gateway shot there is a lot of things to feast ones eyes upon from the inner courtyard to the details in the gateway. Well done!
Thank you for sharing.

Hi Bulent,
Wonderful capture of the Trumbull College gates that resemble a medievil castle gate.
Many striking details to this intricate design that is seen in natural colors and fine sharpness.
Union College in my hometown of Schenectady, NY is the oldest non-sectarian college dating to 1790.

hi Bulent
The gate entrance is symmetry but I wonder why the plate badges are not. Very well composed shot of the institutional symbol. I had a professor from Yale :)
Question : If I am TE member as well as student in your physics class, will you give extra good marks?

So glad to see you again, dear friend Bulent. And I am so thankful for this wonderful choice of the superb gate, since I create a personal collection of the architectural beauties in the world. This is one of the most spectacular gate as i know. Good realization with the heraldic symbols and the romantic light inside.
I will come back. Friendly your

Hi Bülent,
I think being a graduate of Yale is a good card to find work in the future... This entry is a bit austere, but means that when we return here to work and is not for fun !!! Good framing on this heavy door that has seen students... Interesting details with good sharpness, thank you Bülent.
With all my friendships and soon

Henüz Yale'a gelmek nasip olmadı, ama planlarım içerisinde, çünkü abim burada tıp fakültesinde çalışıyor. Sizin poza bakınca gelirken mutlaka fotoğraf makinamı da yanımda getirmeye karar verdim :)
