Photographer’s Note
This part of the artwork done on the ceiling in the Hall of Doges. It's in the Davenport Hotel in downtown Spokane WA. If ever visit Spokane you have to visit this Hotel, The owners did a outstanding job remodeling a historic landmark. and getting it reopen. There was talk for years when the hotel was closed about tearing it down and building a parking garage. We've lost to many historic buildings over the years to this practice. The city has put a end to that practice and has saved a lot of buildings that would be turned in parking garages or lots.
From: Washington Then and Now.
Before Lewellyn Davenport opened his landmark Davenport Hotel in 1914, he was already celebrated for his elegant namesake restaurant. With a Mission Revival makeover by Spokane’s famous architect and aesthete Kirtland Cutter, Davenport’s Restaurant expanded in 1904 to include this extravagant second-floor ballroom modeled after the ducal palaces of Venice. Here in 1911, Spokane’s artistic community decorated this Hall of the Doges with its own elegance for an artist’s costume ball.
During the Davenport Hotel’s recent rescue and restoration, to quote the hotel’s own good-humored history, “The Hall of the Doges, Spokane’s oldest and finest ballroom, was removed from the oldest part of the structure and reinstalled in the new east addition. The removal was accomplished by lifting the ballroom out intact—making it the only flying ballroom in the world.”

Hi Jason,
The decoration looks like it has stood the test of time, it seems to be in remarkable condition.
The shot works well, maybe a small rotation counter clockwise would have evened it up.
Lights good so too the sharps and the colour rendition, good stuff.
Thanks for the note, it is an interesting read.
Warm wishes

Hi Jason,
Beautiful shot of the colorful ornate ceiling of the grand old hotel.
The colors are very clear and sharp in such challenging light.
Its was a very wise decision to preserve this landmark because such historic sights are much easier to restore than to duplicate.
Regards, Tom
