Photographer’s Note
Still in Arches National Park this is Skyline Arch taken just before sunset. I made the opposite decision from Double Arch and posted the wider version. The closer view in the WS was taken earlier in the day when the light was harsher.
In 1940 there was a huge rock fall from under the arch, doubling its size at one stroke. You can also still see some of the fallen rocks under the arch if you look in the WS.
Information about Arches National Park is in my previous post.

Hi Kath,
It is a true playing field for in love ones with the climbing !!! Still interesting contrasts on this photograph between this sky of a pretty blue and this orange rock. Really impressive desert place, as your photograph in WS where this catch of sight in low-angle shot brings another dimension. Beautiful and interesting photograph, thank you Kath.
With all my friendships, by wishing you thus that with all your family a beautiful Christmas,

Hello Kath,
Quelles couleurs !! Ces teintes ocres sont superbes ici et forme le regard à se balader dans cette image jusqu'à l'arche au loin. Le ciel d'un bleu profond contraste joliment avec la roche.
Bien vu !

Hi Kath,
What a wonderful evening light. The conditions with a perfect blue sky and the lovely colours of the rocks and the ground I get the feeling that this is a situation where it looks almost better in a picture than in real life and that you was very pleased when you had a look at the result. TFS and have a nice Sunday!
Cheers,

Hi Kath
Another good choice although the WS has a different perspective by shooting straight up. This one does benefit from the warmer light from later in the day and there is good FG interest as well.
Nicely done.

Hello Kath,
I do not know if I like any more the photo of the WS than this one, but both have an extraordinary aesthetic level and a great beauty.
This landscape is a great help to take photos, but it it is necessary to do it with good skill, and you do it very well.
The light and the colors are really magnificent, and give a great visual attraction to the composition.
A superb work, my friend.
Best wishes,
Josep
Happy Christmas for you and your family.

Hi Kath,
Superb colors with quite a contrast between the orange stone and the deep blue sky. As you mentionned it's quite difficult to get an idea of the scale of the place... but that's not a necessity to appreciate the picture.

You had some exquisit light here, Kath and managed to
record it perfectly - have never seen such a natural,
almost palpable warm tones of the ground and stones
(when it comes to the location).
The warmth is as well noticable in trees & shrubs - the
light, so warm yet still so intense creates a fantastic
contrast to the late blue sky.
Amazing.
Cheers,
Robi
PS. Only wish there was a little bit more of 'definition'
(contrast) in mid-tones.

Hi Kath,
If I didn't know you and had never seen photos from this park, I would think that you had overused the saturation, as the colours are unbelievable. As usual, the compo is amazingly accomplished, with everything very neatly placed. I like specially the way that the shadows divide the image in slices, which is not only pleasing to the eye, but also helps perspective. I imagine a twisting line that begins in the shadow of the FG, climbs the rocks on the left, then runs away to the left. Really a great, stunning work!
Perhaps it's because the main post is so amazing, but the WS is much less impressive, although it is undoubtedly a very good photo also.
Regards, José.

Bonjour Kath,
Amicalement.

Good morning, Kath.
Perfect timing in catching the best possible light for a striking view of this location. Summertime's harsh light is always a big problem around here, the best shots are always taken late in the day and timing is essential : one minute more or less can make all the difference in the world in terms of colors and saturation. So, what I see here is absolutely spot on. Wonderful angle too, my compliments! Have a good day, I'll be seeing you.
Fulvio.

Olá Kath, this time the wider view is better so you did the right choice. The colors are fantastic and the contrast with the sky makes the arch stand out very nicely in the distance. The light is beautiful and all this FG give us a good idea of how's the landscape in this arid place. I'm imagining the WS without the rocks at the bottom and more sky instead...

Hola Kath.
No doubt that this is a beautiful and interesting place and you captured it at the right time of the evening getting soft lights on the rocks and long shadows in the fg. Very good colors and sharpness. Good POV and an excellent composition. Your WS is also a very good photo, little bit scary looking the fallen rocks from the arch.
TFS.
Again Kath wish you Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

Hi Kath,
The old petrified foreground tree makes an excellent lead-in to the richly textured red sandstone bluffs that is wonderfully complimented by the vivid blue desert sky.
Love how the the sky fills the arch and the lovely warm light that lays tranquil shadows throughout this unique image.

Seasons greetings Kath. Striking colours and good Composition/POV. The WS does indeed give a better sense of scale, I think the tree and pile of rocks are enough. Nice photos and thanks for sharing.

Hello Kath,
The colours strike you immediately they are so strong and imposing. The red of the rocks stands as a great contrast to the deep blue of the sky. I like how the shadows define all the bumps and niches.
The use of the grasses in the f/g softens the starkness of the landscape.
Kind regards,
Bev :-)
A very Merry Christmas to you and yours.

Hi Kath,
I really like the framing here with the 'eye-in-the-sky' here. The layers of FG tree, long shadows and cliffs come together to give the appearance of a huge curve. The WS adds interesting detail, but your choice of this pic was clearly the right choice.
You've been really busy lately!! I'll be back soon.

Hello Kath
The bright orange of the rocks is quite overpowering & contrast that with the clear deep blue polarised sky & we have a wonderful natural beauty in front of our eyes. Like your inclusion of the dead trees in the FG. The WS provides good info. about the fallen rocks. Good work!

Hi Kath:
Excellent shot of this excellent arch. You were lucky to get good light and no people. When I went, there was no light and lots of people--bleck! The wider view is nice, but I think that a telephoto shot from here would be even better. But this view is nice as well. Great shot.

Hi Kath
You lived one of my dreams.
I wish to visit all those superb parks and have all the time in the woorld to do it, meaning retirement. One can always dream.
the sun can only put fire to those rocks, which seems to be waiting for it.
The shadows in the front part adds depth and contrast.
