"Yosemite Valley is situated in the basin of the Merced River at an elevation of 4,000 feet above the level of the sea. It is about seven miles long, half a mile to a mile wide, and nearly a mile deep in the solid granite flank of the range. The walls are made up of rocks, mountains in size, partly separated from each other by side canyons, and they are so sheer in front, and so compactly and harmoniously arranged on a level floor, that the Valley, comprehensively seen, looks like an immense hall or temple lighted from above."
--- JOHN MUIR, "The Yosemite"
A view of El Capitan from the south side of the Merced.
A fine spot for a picnic, relaxing, and dreaming.

Well captured Ray - good framing of this icon helped by the good reflections.

I have been twice in Yosemite and I was fascinated by the magnificient nature.
OK, Perhaps not as fascinated as I was from Gran Canyon or Bryce (I'm currently living in Switzerland...) but el Capitan is definitely magnificient

Hi Yosemite Ray
This is another stunning photo from this equally stunning place. I've heard alot of Yosemite and despite it being so well-known it still manages to look untouched and isolated. A wonderful thing in this day and age. Beautiful colours, reflections and exposition. You've composed the photo beautifully to give us the best of both the rock face and the water. Bellissima!
