[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This is Yellowstone National Park, one of the several geysers. Apart from the very famous "Old Faithfull", very regular in time, there are many others, which are less regular, or not regular at all, some of them very big, some others much smaller. It is just a matter of hiking around, and being lucky. This is not a big geyser, but, as you see, it is located in a wonderfull colored environment. Colors are due to algae and minerals which fill the hot waters in the geothermal areas of the park.

Scanned from Velvia 100, Nikon F70 + Nikkor 28-80.

Hello Stefano.
Marvellous layers of colour and a great sky. Well composed to place the horizon and geyser in the frame to please the eye. You show well what this thermal activity and surrounding environment looks like. Well done.

Andrew

Hi Stefano,
I suppose the name Yellowstone comes from the colors on the ground and your picture is exactly based on these. The timing is also ideal refering to the activity of the geyser.
Cheers

Very good composition with interest all through the shot. Did you use a polariser? The sky looks like you might have, but on the other hand, you are getting a lot of reflection of the water here that is muting the colours somewhat. Maybe with a polariser you could have cut out the reflections and let the colours of the hot spring shine through (especially that blue hole near the middle of the shot).
