Photographer's Note
It is a year since we we went to Yellowstone National Park in the depths of winter. Mammoth Hot springs is in the North of the area and borders North Wyoming and Montana. The travertine terraces are formed from the rising hot water and the limestone rock. The snow and extreme low temperatures adds atmosphere which is almost primeval. Over the years the formations in this area have changed a lot due to the unstable ground. The safety of access to certain areas is assessed regularly.
In the WS I show a wider shot and a buffalo peacefully grazing in the FG.

Hi Ann
a shot with a definite "wow" factor about it. Looks so alien and yet fascinating and beautiful. A rich tapestry of textures, colours and misty mystery. Wonderful, would love to visit this place.
Have a great week - regards Brian.

Hello Ann,
Nice to see you back again and I hope that you are now feeling a lot better.
This, I think, must be one of your most appealing photographs from your Yellowstone trip early last year. The composition is beautifully simple, the lighting is superb, bringing out all the wonderful colours and contrasts of that rock formation, and the icing on the cake must surely be those clouds of water vapour rising above the rocks into that gorgeous deep blue sky.
An interesting note and a fine workshop picture which very pleasingly puts this image into context.
Beautiful!
Kind Regards,
John.

Bonjour Ann,
J'aime beaucoup cette composition quoique à première vue on se demande bien ce que cela peut être.J'aime la fumée qui s'échappe de l'eau lors du gel et l'aspect abstrait de l'ensemble.
Amicalement

Hello Ann! I am also really fascinated by your photo. What I especially like about it, it is the "contradictory" presence of the snow on the hot springs, which generate the vapor that gives a Martian atmosphere to your image. Love the colors and the details!

Luca

Hello Ann,
It is pleasing to find little gems like this still tucked away in your archive. What a pity we don't have something as warm as this in the back garden; it would save a fortune on heating bills.
Seriously, this is a fine shot. The close-up allows us to really get the effect from the steaming water and gnarled, convoluted rocks.
Beautifully composed.
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

Hello Ann - A super detail shot, I do love the colours and textures here and the steam adds a very primeval feel to the composition. Quite incredible to think that our planet is in a continual cycle of decay and re-birth. The WS is a good accompanying image giving the context for this more detailed view. Warm regards rosemary

Hi Ann,
A very attractive picture with very good colours. It is hard to find a reference for the sizes of these rocks, but that doesn´t really matter. It is still a very interesting and impressive view!
Kind regards

Wow! Beautiful capture of this natural wonder! I've been thinking about going to Yellowstone in the winter, there's a person there that offers photo safari in the winter. I just got back from Grand Canyon also with plenty of snow. I like your pov of those frozen water. Good lighting and dof with nice details. Love the effect of the mist on the mood. Well done, tfs.

Hello Ann,
The kind of landscape I like a lot.
I prefer this principal shot to the one in workshop.
The mist is perfect to add mood on this already original landscape.

Hi Ann,
I spent 2.5 years in the US but I could never afford to visit Yellowstone. It would be on top of my list now.
What a beautiful and interesting presentation. This world is truly extraordinary, shapes and colors are fantastic. Having the buffalo makes it double as interesting.
Very well done!!!
M
