Photographer’s Note
Sunrise or Moonset over the Grand Teton Range, Grand Teton National Park, Wyoming
I have been working on my slides lately and have come across this sunrise. I remember crawling out of the tent to take the dog for a walk one morning and I observed this moonset over the Teton Range. It is about 0500 hours when this was taken. The lake in the foreground is Jackson Lake with a full complement of water. We have been in a drought for the last 5+ years and I think this is the last time I have seen the lake at maximum.

Very impressive place. I have seen the tetons in many pictures but never like this. I like your perspective with the tiny moon above the mountains. and the lake on the foreground. The colors are very characteristic of a sunrise in the mountains, though not overly saturated to create a nice more natural look. Excellent picture John.

Beautiful light you captured here, the whole image looks very peaceful and serene. colours are soft, but that enhanched even more the atmosphere.
Those tiny clouds are nice details, just as the moon...perfect.

Your trawl through your slides has certainly unearthed a gem. The colours are magical. The detail of the moon adds so much more to the atmosphere than you would expect from something so tiny. Thank your dog for needing to go out at the right time. :D

The moon couldn't be in a better spot. This predawn light is very beautiful. The composition is very simple, and that is good. I like this photo a lot. I know its a cliché to tell people that their photos could be on a postcard, but this one really could be.

John,
A great picture from the Tetons...The Tetons are amazing aren't they? They're a photographer's playground with beautiful shots spread throughout the Park.
Your composition here is great with fantastic colors. Last year I stayed at Jackson Lake lodge and woke up early for the sunrise - it was a pretty cool experience.
Thank you for sharing,
Brian
