Photographer’s Note
This image is taken along the Shoshone River while travelling between Cody, Wyoming and the Yellowstone National Park east gates. The dried grasses of autumn provide a nice foreground as we look over the river to the "Holy City" butte formations along the skyline. If you'd like, you can check out more of my work HERE.

Hi, Gerald -
Seeing as how I'm off to this part of the world (actually, Santa Fe) in about 10 minutes, this is a nice parting shot to leave on!
Great colors here. The light looks like it could be any time of day. Nice division of the image into horizontal sections.
Best,
Dan

Hi Gerald,
Last time I was here I so wanted to paddle this river with its rocks that were so well crushed by the glaciers that it would have been a fast easy ride in a canoe.
Great shot of the twisting High Plains river framed by the vivid autumn colors and lovely rock formations.
What a unique and special place.

Gerald,
Such a beautiful contrast between the blue and the golden field, the stratifield butte looks rather unsual for Wyomic, I tend to associated it with utah and Arizona. Beautiful composition with the river snaking through the landscape. Thanks

hi Gerald
yeah, Wyoming... Cody... wish i was there right now (and it was summer/fall). sight very typical indeed. compositionally though i am not so sure about the format. what i remember most of wyoming was the 'great wide open' feel. this format constricts that a bit in my opinion.
warm regards,
kristaps

The autumn colours of the grasses blend in nicely with the reddish colour of the rocks. The vertical format gives added depth by allowing you to include the grass in the foreground. You then have several layers topped by a beautiful sky.

Hi, Gerald.
Of course angle and colors are wonderful and the framing is spot on, but the main thing about this shot is that it oozes Wyoming... that's what really grabs me. Great job, TFS! Have a good day, see ya soon.

G'day Gerald,
Another great capture from your US travels: I'm guessing that dominant butte is over 100' high? The vertical format also works well here, too.
Best wishes,
Jeff

Hi, Gerald. Good choice of the vertical format for this picture. It shows us how becomes scarcer the higher you go to leave only rocks on the top ridge. The autumn colours of the grass contrast well with the river and the sky against which the rocks stand out well.
Have a nice day,
Philippe

hi Gerald,
those 50-something miles between Cody and Yellowstone is one of those places where you can point camera at any direction and just snap away, there's always something photogenic :) I don't mind the vertical format, I think it helps to emphasise the contrast between the crisp blue of the sky and warm golden brown of the grass in the foreground. nice one :)
best,
Kristine

Amicalement.
Daniel.
