Hello Phil,
What a spectacular field of tulips! The simple composition is as effective as any I can imagine. It is a successfully scanned sixteen-year-old image. I recently found out that this flower, so inextricably linked with Holland, got there from Turkey in the 16-17th centuries. Turkey, in turn, got it from Iran, which in turn got it from India. (I don't know where the Hindus got it, but what beautiful flowers they make.)
Warm regards,
Bulent

Hi Phil.
What a great shot, from the vast array of red flowers and yellow strip to the well placed buildings and the hazy snow capped peaks in the background, adding a great sense of depth. Very good 'classical' type of composition observing the rule of thirds. You did a great scanning job on this, getting beautiful rich colours. Nice, simple frame to top it off. Well done.
Regards,
Andrew

Bonjour Phil,

Hi Phil,
It's not only here in Holland were the flower fields stand in all their glory. Canada is also a unique location for making these kind of pictures. Here the red and yellow are working so nice together, while the house and the hazy mountains make a nice second detail to the image...wonderful, i like such pictures a lot.

Hi Phil,
what have I to say if not: "Wow! What colors!".
This is a wonderful picture, with the brilliant colors of flowers in contrast to the gray sky and the house stands nicely in the middle.
Congratulations.
TFS.

Hi Phil,
The poor April weather seems to be pretty widespread, though fortunately it hasn’t been quite that cold here!
The beautiful strips of red and yellow colours contrast well with the slightly threatening grey of the sky and the barely glimpsed mountains in the distance. This is a very different landscape to the Dutch tulip fields we’re more accustomed to seeing.
I particularly like the way the foreground tulips seem to glow.
Very nice work and good scan too.

Hi Phil
Stunning capture. You have managed to retain the detail in the red tulips which I think is important. I think a lot of people would have boosted the saturation in the reds to make them vibrant but your reds are spot on. I like the way the mountains in the BG distant and misty.

Hi Phil
The colours and contrasts are so spectacular here. The buildings are nicely placed in the upper third and the grey background makes the tulips stand out even more so.

Excellent Show, Phil!
The colors are wonderful, of course, but what really makes the difference in here are those mountains shrouded in mist. Some background, let me tell ya! Wish I had a background like that here in Holland...
Have a great weekend, see ya soon.
Ciao,
Fulvio.

Hi, Phil -
Very intense colors and nice composition. I'm finding it hard to think of the Pacific NW as tulip country, though. Good quality scan.

Nicely done Phil! Great composition and nice on the thirds. Wonderful vibrant colours. It's the kind of picture that makes you all warm and fuzzy when you look at it. At first I was a little unsure of the depth of field (i.e. the foreground is soft), but now I see what your intentions were. Well done. Regards, TW

Hi, what a vibrant image. Thanks for your points for my Haywain look alike. I am interested to hear what you think about the switch from velvia film to digital. I would expect that you would have seen a sharp difference in the colour strengths, from the deep richness of Velvia to the insipid colours of digital. Do you alter the saturation much afrewards?

I wonder if I can afford that house, if I needed a job to pay for it, it would probably not be worth dealing with the daily traffic. I love the colourful fg of course, and the contrasty sky, I'm considering migrating out of the USA, hence the speculation about housing in BC.

That's an incredible show! The house is surrounded by those million colourful flowers. The dark angry blue sky makes a good contrast with the fresh joyful flowers. Excellent colours and point of view.

Hi Phil,
Your "Spring" weather is horrendous this year! Your "old" slide is just marvelous! Your analog to digital conversion is outstanding as well. I think that scanning our slides is the most underrated thing that we do on Trek Earth. Just because our images aren't brand new digital photos doesn't mean that they are not great photographs. By the way, I owned the PZ-1 before I swithced to nikon. It was an excellent camera. Beautiful work!

Great shot.

Hola!
I like it! is as the spanish flag... ;-) the same colours.
Now serious...a realy nice picture, with this differents colours lays. Nice lights and colours and well composed, but may be I would prefer a larger view, with the house a little far from, to gives a greatter feeling of flower extension, with a little house on the background. But in any way a good job, nice to see all this flowers. We can imagine that this picture is took in Holland; only the hight snowy mountains on the background shows that we are not in Holland (The flatest country in the world, I think).
Hasta la vista,
javier

Hi Phil, very nice colour contrasts seen in this shot, between the tulips, and between the tulips, the house and sky. I have never seen a field of tulips before, this would be kind of neat. I like the low position you have to give the emphasis on the flowers themselves. Depth of field is good, with great definition throughout, and your colour saturation, from the slide is excellent. Very excellent PP.
Thanks, John
