Well, the plan was to set up and capture the downtown Seattle City Skyline at blue hour, but we missed it by about 30 min!
There's only a small hint of a dark navy blue in the air, with mostly black sky...oh well, guess I'll have to go back again at some point.
On the left is the NFL Stadium in electric blue, and I picked this location because of the I-5 on the right with all the trailing cars zooming by with the 15 sec long exposure.
In the Map View, you can get a general idea where i took the photo from, its not exact, but there's alot of Park Space up on Beacon Hill.
We don't get to see alot of Seattle on TE, so I thought it'd be nice to 'put it on the map'. I'll hopefully get a more colorful photo next time.
Thanks for looking.

Hi Craig - I like the deep dark backcloth here, it acts as a superb foil to the city lights and skyline and I think the balance of the shot with the huge amount of negative space works extremely well. The 'S' of the road adds movement as it guides one's eyes through the city. The blue arches are nicely placed within the frame too and are very well displayed against the darkness. Very attractive post this! Warm regards Rosemary

You might have missed the blue hour, but this nightview over Seattle is spectacular anyway. The brightly lit city and the dynamics of the busy highway are superb. The only thing that bothers me slightly are the rather prominent bushes that obscure the view quite a bit, but what can you do ....
Have a great day

I like it very much!
Exposure, chosen pov and composition are highlights here!
An american city that's very close to Vancouver, right? I'd like to visit it some day!
Enjoy your sunday,

Despite your disappointment you still got a decent shot out of it. Obviously displays your control of exposure and offers a balanced composition.
I answered your questions about J via email - I don't know if you got them though since the TE website went all weird on me and I tried to send a bunch of times.
Anyway - take care.

What a superb night shot with a spectacular view on the city! The POV was selected very well to achieve such a great and impressive scene with lights and moves around the buildings. Superb work! TFS.
PS. Thanks so much for your words re my pics from Venice. If you have a moment pls look at my FB to see few more. I spent there one incredible week and after that we went to Paris -- the pics will follow soon:)
The city is absolutely gorgeous with an old architecture around, so many moody and small squares and excellent food -- like in all Italian cities!:) You asked about people - yes, there was a lot of tourists especially in the most popular places like St. Mark's Square. For sure it's worth to be seen!

You missed the blue hour but I reckon you have got a winner here.Well composed, lovely colours of the buildings and lights that stand out well against the black sky and foreground.

A superb night shot from Seattle. I recognize the feeling of not to reach everything while visiting other cities or countries. Afer all you achieved a very good result from this wonderful viewpoint. Lovely framing and of course great effect of the car lights. Great work! TFS.
Have a nice evening.

WOW! What a splendid nightshot!
Very colourful under the night sky and with the silhouettes of the vegetation on the FG.
I like this composition very much with the curving lines of the roads leading us to the skyscrapers. The bridge at the left side is also beautifully illuminated.
Best regards, Paul

Même sans heure bleue, la vision nocturne sur Seattle est spectaculaire et colorée. J'aurais peut-être tenté une version plus panoramique avec moins de "noir" en haut et en bas???

Spectacular panorama. I really admire your perfect light management. It looks great, well taken.
Have a calm new week.

Hello Craig, splendid shot of the Seattle skyline, you f ound fantastic POV, and this big Z is really amazing.Srunning sharpness and colours, bushes obsure a bit the view but with this nothing can be done. Great shot (but I much prefer half-timbered houses :)).
have a nice week

We see little night pictures of this quality.
You did this wonderful as well as colours and light about the city.
You chose a very well angle this cares for depth and perspective.
Colours and sharpness are pleasant to look at.
Very well done.

Splendid night shot of Seattle. I like it!

Ciao e buona giornata

super night shot this. Love the snaking road that leads the eye into the cityscape so effectively. Gloriously detailed and beautifully managed image. Love it!
Regards - Brian
PS - Been off line for 3 days and still having connection problems now, so trying to catch up! B.

Beautiful catch of the city in lights like this, and the composition from your chosen point of view works really well. The stadium stands out like a big blue whale while the road with the zooming cars and light trails is the perfect lead into the towers of the city beyond. I love the glow from the city centre too. Nicely framed between the trees and night sky.
I think Ive mentioned before, I envy your high rise buildings :)
All the best

Well, what an attractive, bubbly shot.
My first impression was its likeness to a fair ground, with colourful, twinkling lights and an illuminated big wheel.
Your composition follows the rule of thirds, with the silver road to guide through the middle.
I do like your presentation.
My warm regards,
Kugart (1772) 2013-10-01 7:47
Fantastic presentation here of your night shot of Seattle. The totally black background with the colourful well lit cityscape is just superb. Will look forward to more from this place.
COSTANTINO (44125) 2013-10-02 2:44
dynamic contrast between black and gold scenery
this deep black create a special atmosphere
with all those curving lines
mkamionka (27073) 2013-10-02 13:44
very impressive panorama. Of course the earlier blue hour would be even better... sorry I didn't want to tease you. Occasionally the black hour works great too and may be I am too biased and loose some opportunities by being so fixed on the blue hour...
Very nice view with the island of skyscrapers and the z shaped curve of the lights.
Beautiful work, I am honestly jealous,
krzychu30 (12689) 2013-10-04 22:48
I´ve seen this one on my smartphone, but wanted to enjoy it fully on my laptop when I´m home.
The view is as spectacular as your presentation(Seattle has in my opinion really great and picturesque, even if not the most impressive skylines).I like also the way you show us the traffic here-it looks almost like the veins of the city.
I hope you have more shots from Seattle(haha I´m almost addicted to such photos:)
Wish You a nice weekend
ChrisJ (91286) 2013-10-05 4:45
The deep navy blue sky bordering on black allows sufficient detail and subtly contrasts against the yellow orange illumination and light trails of the city. I like the blue arch bridge at left and the reversed 's' shape of the freeway at right. Good sharpness and a marvellous high pov overlooking the city. Tfs!
Didi (51269) 2013-10-08 11:06
Very good lights control, nice black lights
It's also possible for a next time to take a picture in the blue hour
pyffepa (623) 2013-10-09 11:40
Thank you for that extraordinary photograph.
The city appears as an astonishing jewel in a dark blue jewel case.
Absence of haze make it exceptionally clear.

Hi, my friend Craig,
your good management of the exposure time has given a fantastic result, this is a great night shot.
I love the strong effect of the lighting of the city and the dynamic lights of the traffic in the free-way, with a few elegant curves.
The balance of lit areas and the darkness of the sky is great.
A beautiful composition.
