Well, as promised I wanted to upload a few more photo's of the amazing Gehry building in Seattle.
Its call the EMP, the Experience Music Project.
its a large museum in the heart of Seattle dedicated to the history and exploration of Music, Science Fiction and Pop Culture.
You can see from the photo that its also right next door to the popular and Iconic Seattle "Space Needle".
The Space Needle is 605 feet tall, and has an observation deck with a rotating restaurant.
I thought it would be fun to try to compose both subjects in the same scene. The smooth EMP building here is just one corner of it, waving in and out, bending and turning. The front entrance door is directly below the middle of the frame but i wanted to leave it out for a more abstract type of view.
Hope you like it

Stunning! I'm not even sure where to start with this one, there are so many neat aspects to this image that I almost feel flustered trying to put in print what my eyes are seeing. An iconic landmark is actually very prominent and easily recognizable in view, but acts as the lesser "sidekick" to the rest of the subject material featured here. The composition is simply superb! I could go on an on about how much I like this one, but I'll leave it with another baseball analogy...grand slam!! :) Thanks for another wonderful shot of Seattle's style. Have a great week ahead.

I think I recognize this building from one of the default wallpapers in Windows 7....now that you posted it, I can also locate it. Great quality and great theme also. All this metal makes quite an impressive effect.

This is indeed an example of very advanced architecture. A fantastic building and a very good POV, you are providing a well balanced picture.

That is one funky building! I just Googled it, and the design is really unique. How did Gehry come up with this one??!! Although my favorite part of the EMP is the red part of the facade, this view with the metallic, wavy pieces is very cool. It looks great combined with the Space Needle in this photo.

Hello Craig - this is such a complex piece of architecture and I have done a quick search to see it in its totality. Incredible and easy to see why why it is controversial. Personally, I think it is amazing and your shot here focuses so beautifully on the fluid, organic curves which feature so strongly. Quite a fascinating juxtaposition too with the Space Needle. Beautifully managed and finely detailed shot. I look forward to more in the series..... I bet you found this place to be a 'Craig Heaven'! Warm regards rosemary

The construction of this amazing architecture is truly unique and original. Here it looks really interesting and I am sure it is worth to be photographed. Perfectly well seen and executed image with brilliant composition and very good quality. Like it a lot!

What utterly amazing shapes and curves and lines and what wonderful colours, reflections and textures too!
Your composition is remarkable and you have done extremely well to include not only a wonderful section of this building but also the Seattle "Space Needle" too. Gorgeous light and colours, perfect exposure and exquisite detail and sharpness throughout.
I'm guessing that this one is HDR too but it has been done extremely expertly and very subtly too.

What a great shot of this modern piece of arcitecture.Great POV capturing the flowing lines o f the curves creating the shadows and highlights of the shot set against the blue sky. Well done.

Craig, what an interesting shot! I really love it. The Gehry building itself seems like a fascinating subject, and the juxtaposition with the tower is a really cool idea. Beautiful bronze tones on the building and shiny chrome elsewhere. Nicely done.

This is quite nearly a photographic history of modernist architecture, Craig. The Space Needle was, of course, the cutting edge in the 1960s, though it can now appear a bit kitschy, like something from the Jetsons. Of course you also have the Seattle Monorail sweeping into the shot from the left - another example of what was once 'the future'. All of that is really nicely juxtaposed with the Gehry building, a form we now strongly associate with modern or even futuristic architecture. Plus, it's all so shiny! The color and texture of the rolling metal walls are stunning in this shot. Really beautifully done.

Une photo de qualité de cette architecture assez biscornue que tu as cadrée de façon très originale.
krzychu30 (15512) 2013-04-15 0:11
brilliant composition!First thing I like is of course the juxtaposition with the "Space Needle" and your superb upward POV,but I enjoy equally the construction of the wavy, iron roof, its metallic color scheme and textures you were able to bring out so excellently. Also contrast to the blue sky is fantastic.
looks like you had busy day before departure to Iceland:)
Have a good day

This is so unlike any building that I have ever experienced before. The curves of metal are like cloth rumpled by the wind, as if on a washing line. There is such inferred movement.
I love the perspective, the tall tower guarding the lower parts!
Have a great day,

This building is my desktop picture on my PC. I find this building and its architectur very interesting. By a way, it makes me think about the Guggenheim musuem in Bilbao.
I like you tried to also include the tower. Even if it is a bit too close to the other building. I do not know if it was possible, but a placement just a bit more on the left could have given a bit more space between both.
I feel it could also work in B&W.

a masterpiece of composition and POV that brings such fascinating elements, shapes and buildings together so beautifully. Love the shiny surfaces and the play of the light is just so effective at bringing out all the graceful lines of this amazing construction. One of your finest architectural images Craig!
Have a fine week - Brian.
Noel_Byrne (30191) 2013-04-15 5:16
very nicely combined to get these two icons in the same shot, I would imagine it took a while to find an angle that works as well as this. I love the texture of the museum, and its fluid shapes and designs. It reminds me a lot of the museum in Bilbao. Great contrast between the two buildings, and beautiful light throughout!
All the best

you are absolutely right, these two belong together. That unique metal building has a very futuristic look and my first thought on seeing it was about space and planes not music. Perfect composition and execution.
Thanks and have a great week

fascinating architecture that looks always new and striking. Intriguing and exciting as it is, it must be very difficult and challenging to frame in photographic compositions. Even distant and comprehensive shots aren't always able to pin these buildings down. This picture is wonderful and gives us a great idea about the originality, the enchantment and the elusiveness of the architecture. A superb presentation of the two iconic structures in one frame. Lighting and rendering of textures and chromatic tones is exceptional. Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a great day,

Hi Craig, Indeed fantastic Gehry's architecture. It seems a bit similar to the Theater in Los Angeles that I missed :(. Amazing curvy surface. Awesome view.
I have just returned from Kakadu trip. Tomorrow we start exploring Australian trains. We have a lot of fun here.
regards from very hot Darwin

I be very curious to visit this EMP, not only for photo but for the things you said to have inside. The modern architecture is wonderfunl and I like the almost abstract image, braked only by the Space Needle.
rychem (34081) 2013-04-16 10:36
Amazing structure and texture, we can't find any vertical and horizontal lines, great result of an abstract painting
Waylim (25502) 2013-04-16 19:32
Very strong composition here combinding the abstract sculpture and the Space Needle. the good thing is you also have the beautiful day with wonderful blue sky. When I was here it was cloudy like a typical Seatle groomy day. I think I posted one long time ago.
Excellent, everything is jsut in good details and excellent DoF.
Graal (102482) 2013-04-17 1:48
fine composition, good idea and realize. Amazing modern architecture. Friends everything already wrote. Photograph me also appeals.
Have a nice day.

I love Gehry's architecture. All other modern architects are really boring next to him.
You did also a fantastic job presenting this structure and also including the famous landmark of Seattle as well. Very confusing as you like to do it. Amazing geometry, very well spotted.
Bluejeans (64251) 2013-04-18 10:38
Uma belo ângulo de visão com a wide ângle , os detalhes detalhes do edifício são fantásticos , bom contraste com o céu , parabéns!!
Um abraço Gonçalo

I recognize Frank Gehry architural design anywhere, we have one just like this in Las Vegas. Nice inclusion of the Space Needle. Good pov and dof with nice details. Well done, tfs.
