Photographer’s Note
This shot was taken on the north coast of the Olympic Peninsular from the Lower Elwha Klallam Indian Reservation, just past Port Angeles. It looks over the Strait of Juan de Fuca to Vancouver Island. The Indian Reservation is a bit like a modern resort and has a Casino, Art Gallery and shop. I also noticed a dentist’s surgery. We had stopped to visit the shop; it seemed rude not to :o) (Fellow-shoppers unite!)
The photo is a simple composition with the foreground rocks. The light was really what attracted me. It was late morning, but the light had an early morning quality that I hadn’t seen before. Can anyone who knows the area tell me if this is usual? The water was so still it is difficult to separate the rocks from their reflections.
Anyway – simple or not I like it; I hope you do too

Ciao Kath,
..for me isn't a simply composition ....(simplicity is only a point of view).. the perfect reflection of the rocks it makes to seem that they fly in a other dimension..also I like the lightin.
well done,
have a nice day, Fabio.

Bonjour Kath,
je préfère nettement cette photo à la précédente, l'exposition y est bien meilleure et avec cela, les couleurs.
Parfait cadrage avec l'horizon très bien placé et droit.
Une photo qui colle avec le titre.
Amicalement.
Daniel.

Hi Kath
A very nice and calm "blue" landscape. The blue tones, the light and the reflections are fantastic. The composition was great with that placement of those dark rocks.
Be well,
António

Hi Kath,
Your recent trip itinerary has been a joy to follow and inspires me to seek out some of these nearby areas. This is a simple but very effective shot. The tones and hues of the water are outstanding and one can see both reflections and fauna in the depths. I think the light phenomenon you describe is common, as I have experienced similar lighting across Juan de Fuca. You have captured it well. A very satisfying shot. Regards.

Hi Kath,
Beautiful seascape with a nice range of blues. This kind of still water must be pretty usual as I had the same conditions a few years ago in the Canadian part of the channel. This place is really wonderfull. Kind of a colder paradise ;o)
The reflects of the stones on the water recall me of a picture that I took a few weeks ago on a lake...
Thanks for sharing ;o)

Hi Kath,
Lovely photo, with magic light and the shining mirror of the sea. Having spent 2 months sailing in the gulf islands some time ago, I think of this light as morning light; it's hnot just the light, it's the reflecting surface of the calm, flat sea before the wind comes up.
Regards, Pat
