Photographer’s Note
A view of James Island seen from the main beach in La Push in Olympic National Park in Washington State, USA.
I took this photo at sunset from La Push. The sun coloured the sky so beautiful and I got lucky that some birds (brown pelicans) were flying by as well. I added just a tiny bit of contrast to this photo.
Thank you for looking!
Ann :)
Some information on Olympic National Park: Olympic National Park is located on the Olympic Peninsula west of Seattle and in the most north western corner of the mainland of the USA. This park is such a diverse and amazing place to visit. No wonder they say it's 3 parks in one! You can enjoy the amazing surf and beautiful beaches, you will see a spectacular alpine country dotted with sparkling lakes, lush meadows, glaciers, waterfalls and North America's finest temperate rain forest.
Olympic National Park is a wilderness park with much of its interior accessible only by trail. A variety of roads lead off the major Highway (101) to various destinations around the park. There are several scenic drives including the drive to Hurricane Ridge, along the Pacific Coast and through the forested valleys of the Sol Duc, Hoh and Quinault Rivers. This all provide glimpses of Olympic National Park's diversity.

Hi Ann,
Very pretty shot, I've not heard of this place before but from your capture it is certainly picturesque.
The silhouetted island against that fantastic sunset works for me.
Superb image, pelicans included.

Hi Ann,
I'm hoping to see places like this one when I visit Victoria next May. I have been as far west as Vancouver so I am not sure what to expect once I reach Vancouver Island! Anyway, this is an awesome sunset image. The little island does make an interesting element in this view as it make the sun less prominent in the horizon. Colours as usual very nice and warm. An excellent shot Ann :-)

Hello Ann
Our first port of call was Olympic national park when we left Vancouver. Beautiful sunset, well managed handling of the sun's glow. You have a nice warm tone running through your blacks which I like. The birds add to the scene for sure, in fact a important detail.
Well done
Jim

Hallo Ann,
Heel mooie zonsondergang. Echt mooi !
Groeten, Paul

Stunningly beautiful landscape picture.
Perfect exposure and composition. Your patience of waiting for the (sea gulls?) to show up on the perfect spot on the left side of the picture paid off nicely.

Hi Ann, I like the sunset shot of this unusually shaped island, particularly with the inclusion of the pelicans - and is that a shark fin in the FG? Gawd I hope not! Thanks also for your Note on PP'ing, I find they're very informative - you've been very restrained with PP'ing too, so the image looks so natural. TFS, Lisa.

Nicely done Ann
Who among us can resist a golden sunset as cliche as they may be. There is a nice balance between the haystack rock and the rock on the right. I like the way your camera handled the sun. Not too much blurring by the intensity of the light on the digital sensor.

Hello,
If you havn't catch the sun, I think the composition were to centered. But in this case the framing is realy good.
Greetings.

Hi ann,
A fine perspective for this stunning sunset. I like the composition and the colors are out of this world. Those two gulls on the left add a nice touch. Very well done and TFS. Gerald
