This is my second upload from North Cascades National Park in Washington State very near the border with Canada. This is Granite Creek which flows into Ruby Creek which then flows into Ross Lake. As I was walking along this trail I started getting nervous that I would see a grizzly but I never did. This is some very isolated country that the wildlife certainly likes. Judging from the turquoise color this is a glacier-fed stream.
Just as a heads-up to everyone that from now through the end of the year my critiques and uploads will become very spotty and erratic. My job is going to be taking up most of my time but I should be able to find some time once or twice a week, hopefully.

The bluish colors of the river produces a good contrast with the green forest, the branches and trunks give your picture a nice natural frame. TFS.
I'm glad you are going to be busy with your work but at the same time sad because we are not going to see you often enough, will miss your pictures and excellent critiques.

Hi Mr. Steve, I think it is good to be busy. I hope to hear you often with your spotty appearance here in TE and I am still looking forward to your new posts.
A nice capture of the impressive jade colored clean water in this beautiful hide away settings. Nice frame and good details.

un endroit bien choisi, une rivière qui expose de jolies couleurs d'émeraude. Un petit coin idéal pour se reposer au calme et profiter des bienfaits de la nature.
Bien cadré sous les arbres.

Too bad your work will borrow your precious TE time, at least I hope it will leave you enough time to keep shooting and have fun ! I find the falling branches here obstruate the view a bit but the water color is awesone !
Have a nice week end,

What beautiful colours we can see through the trees. I also like the mossy bark on the left-hand tree, which you managed to include in focus despite a relatively wide aperture.
Sorry we will miss your high activity on TE; I'm sure you will fit in some posts now and then.

Original water colours and nice tree on the left side for your composition. But for the other tree on the right, it obstructs a bit the sight.

Lovely picture with the transparent green water curving past the mossy trees; wonderful detail and color as well. As Kath notes even the moss is in focus!!
I could tell that you were getting busy, I don't know how working people have time for TE - Hope it's something fun!!

Hi Stephen - under sunlight this place is suggestive of the tropical jungle rather than a cool rainforest, the coloutr of the river is beautiful, good luck in your career.

A good shot of the nature here. The water and its colour looks very nice and the trees in front as well as in the background look great too. The light adds a fine atmosphere to the picture. Good work!

Beautiful composition in green. An excellent example of geographical information showing us the interesting places of the world.

Well Good evening Stephen. The green water really does look nice in this natural setting. I am glad you didnt run into a bear or cougar. Nicely done and thanks for sharing!

Hello Stephen. This is one of those lovely, quiet scenes that stops one in one's tracks while hiking. Not dramatic, but very pleasant.

You make a good composition, but, and I hope you don't mind, I cannot find a main point of interest in the photo.
Technically is good, but I think that there is something what fails.
(once time I read how a spanish member of TE said about a photo that was "una buena foto pero sin alma", a good photo but without soul... that's what I think that fails)

Work hard, but watch your health, Stephen!
I like this splash of different greens in your frame (maybe because am myself in the 'green phase', I suppose).
Just love this moss on the tree on the left!

The water here is just amazing, very good work, I like the natural feel here
quantabeh (5205) 2006-06-19 1:50
the color of the water is really beautiful. It must have been a nice hike. The pov is a bit limiting, I suppose, but I know how hard it is to shoot in places like this.
hope the work is not tiring you much!
elmec (12210) 2006-06-21 16:58
The colour of the water is so amazing!
Great composition with the streem in the rocky valley!
Very good work!

I like the superb turquoise color of the water. Good use of the fg trees as a frame, to add depth. Excellent sharpness. Tfs!

Pierre précieuse, symphonie de couleurs avec les arbres et les pierres granitées.
Un lieu qui invite à la détente et à la réflexion.
Une très belle composition une fois encore.
