This was taken just west from the Bridge of the Gods in Washington from Cascade Locks, Oregon 30 miles east of Portland off off I-84 Freeway. This pond is adjacent to Washington State Hwy.14, and during the summer months has a large area of Lily Pads and American Lilies that flourish in the waters. there is also a huge Osprey nest near the shores of the pond in the forest, and you will be assured to witness the Osprey attempt to catch their only food source, fish in either the pond or just across the Hwy. in the Columbia River.
Also, the pond is often under attack by these Blue and Red Dragonflies, an added plus to a beautiful setting. Just East of Cascade Locks once travelling through town and not entering I-84, but driving the frontage road that is staright ahead there is another huge pond-small lake this is teeming with Bass, ducks-including the beautiful Wood Duck, a Great Blue Heron or two that reside near the pond, and those fabulous Yellow Water Lilies. The cattails, Cascade Mountains, dead tree stumps and trunks, and the reflections of all these in the waters makes for a beautiful fall image, you can see my image of the pond on this site.
