Photographer's Note

This is taken near Colfax, Washington in Palouse country. The Palouse is a remarkable area of undulating agricultural farmland extending from Wanatchee in the west of Washington state to the Idaho border, and from Spokane in the north to the Oregon border in the south. It is referred to as the 'Corn Belt' of Northwest America. The towns in this sparsely populated area are generally rather small. Isolated farm buildings, such as the one in the picture, can be seen beside the road. It was raining at the time but I thought was worth getting wet for.
