Photographer’s Note

The Columbia River Gorge is known for its wind, perhaps this can explain the name given to Wind Mountain. Its seen here from the trail up Dog Mountain, I decided to give it a try this morning since the rains finally stopped, and was rewarded with this view.

My home is located just a shot drive north from the farthest point on the right side of this photo. I drive my school bus up and down this river every day and enjoy the breathtaking views, although I don't always have the time to try and capture them.

From Summit Post With links to more great photos of Wind Mountain.

"Wind Mountain is the near perfect cone-shaped sentinel a couple miles west of the more popular Dog Mountain on the Washington side of the Columbia River Gorge. The river narrows dramatically at this point and the prevailing westerlies are squeezed and accelerated as they blow upriver, resulting in the near constant wind that gives the mountain its name.
At the summit, numerous Indian pits are preserved as well as several terraces made by native Americans for ritual purposes."

I don't know what happened to my sky?? Perhaps in lightening the photo all those little pixel things showed up? I tried to do a noise reduction and will post that in a workshop. I didn't notice the weird sky until after I posted this. Any ideas? suggestions?
