Photographer’s Note
Iceberg lake is at the base of Mt Baker on the Chain lakes loop trail. This trail loops around to Artist Point ( a panorama of that site will be posted later).
Of all the trails I hiked this last August I would have to say that the Mt Baker Chain loop Trail was one very nice highlight this summer. I found it also rewarding to discover where the trailhead's start to access them. The trail takes you over a table ridge from the parking lot heading west and loops around over to Artist Point. I always found it odd how you can see Mt Baker from the ground at a great distance. But when you drive up to Mt Baker it disappears out of sight unless you hike over this ridge. From where this photo is taken there are three lakes that the loop trail passes and this is one of the vantage points that I simply had to capture.
There are many scenic trails all over this mountain top. I have barely scratched the surface in being able to hike them all. But having been on a few I must say I was very impressed with the natural wonder of beauty that is so evident up Mt Baker. Enjoy!

Very nice shot Paul, I love the framing of the lake by the trees and the clouds in the background. I have never seen Mount Baker this close, but it's certainly on my "to climb" list. Fantastic exposure given the bright light, the snow and the clouds. A lovely spot!

Hi Paul
Fantastic colors here. Obviously I found the sharpness not at its best especially on the foreground (the trees). Is it a crop ?
Cheers

Hello Paul,
You have taken a very beautiful image of Mt. Baker. Exceptional lighting and detail, however, the tree stationed in the middle of the image is distracting as my eyes were led directly to it and at that point stopped from viewing the entire scene as you had wished. The tree is as it stands, the most important object in the scene, probably not what you intended at all.
Great clarity in the clouds and mountain...

This a different view of Mt Baker than many of us are used to. Well done Paul. The FG lake is well handled as there is probably at least 2 stops of light diffence between the lake and mountain. The framing by the trees both left and right really work well to keep our eyes in the photo.

Hi Paul,
Very excellent work with light and the contrasts between the darker lake area and the sky. Good composition and I like your choice of square format. I really don't mind the framing with tree branches overhead because as I think about it, they are actually pointing towards the main mountain feature. Just a question, "Is the sharpness not quite 100% or did you intend for it to be a softer image?" Great work and TFS. Gerald

Hey, this spot looks familiar! Great shot of the mountain, naturally framed by the trees on each side. You got some nice clouds in behind it too, which helps to break up the sky. I like the combination of the lake in the front and the mountain behind it - looks so peaceful and beautiful. Nicely done!

Hi Paul,
Great shot of Mount Baker. I love the shrubs/trees in the foreground looking over the lake towards Mount Baker! Great lighting, colors and details. I love the natural framing in this photo as well! Great work, Paul!

Hello Paul,
As a young man a painted a whistful scene very much like this, more from imagination than by actually witnessing it in real life. Everyone said, beautiful, but surreal. You've captured that surreal image. Terrific! The composition is "closed" and manageable. The trees in the foreground and the snow covered mounts in the back creating an intimate frame for the lake.
Warm regards and enjoy your weekend,
Bulent

Hi Paul,
A lovely view down to the lake and its majestuous mountain background, I like this mushrooming cloud coming up.

Hi Paul,
It looks like a volcano is erupting - what a dramatic visual effect. I enjoyed this lovely scene especially from this well chosen angle. The snow capped mountain contrast beautifully with its surroundings and the lake is very pleasing and relaxing to look at. Great shot!!
Have a nice day.
