Photographer’s Note
Goblin Valley State Park is a detour for those travelling from Arches National Park to Capitol Reef National Park. It's worth the visit. This photo was taken from our picnic table at the shaded Observation Point. The "goblins" were created out of the erosion of Entrada sandstone.
I did follow Toni (Toni_al) down closer to the goblins but didn't stay long as it was so hot (40°C) and I lost sight of Toni. Actually I started panicking because he had gone down there without water (and only his D700) and even when I got back up to the Observation Point, I couldn't see him and was wondering if he'd been taken by the goblins. What a relief when he finally turned up with lots of photos of course.

Hi Nikki,
It is a place one can easily get lost, because all this goblin rocks start to look alike and there is no path or trail for you to follow. You eventually find your way back but it could be hours later. So yes, it is wise to have water, but here it seem small enough that people don't expect to be gone for so long, they don't carry water with them. We didn't either and was gone longer than expected.
Anyway, really great shot of the over all area that give us a really good impression. The clouds adds much to the composition. I have many shot here but just blue sky and it look rather boring. Thanks

Goblins are probably not interested in photography (only in being photographed, as I see), otherwise he could risk coming back without the D700 ;)))
On a serious note though, another reason to finally go to States... awesome scene and well captured!
Cheers

Bonjour Nikki,
Amicalement,
Christian

Hi Nikki, You were lost near goblins, I lost my way going from Delicate Arch to parking lot - just wanted to make shorter way and what seemed to me a path was in fact dry spring. I had all - water, mobile phone, GPS - but ... in the car. I went only with my camera. Fortunately after an hour or so I found my way. It was quite funny, there was not so hot, not special danger, but a lesson for me that one must be more careful.
Warm regards

Hi Nikki,
That's amazing - our visit to those parts in 2007 unfortunately didn't include this - too bad for us. Gorgeous composition and brilliant and well saturated colors. Good use of shadows too. Well done and TFS. Gerald

Hello Nikki,
Bravo !

Hi Nikki,
Even in full sun this place looks amazing.
That clear blue sky contrasting against the Goblins and the Butte in the background, gives this scene a magical quality. The colours look incredible.
Superb capture.

Hola Nikki.

Hi Nikki, you could very easily get lost in a place like this. The endless goblins are just spectacular and my hat goes off to you for braving the heat. I love the striations in the rockface, always you capture such amazing textures and tones. And that blue, blue sky....wow. Great work, TFS, Lisa (PS thought of you last night when I had a Cherry Ripe for dessert. Tonight it was a Violet Crumble :)

Hello Nikki,

Hi Nikki,
I like the panoramic approach to the fascinating Goblins. It shows the vastness and detail of the wonderful formations.
Ironically, I just uploaded my Goblins photo for Halloween. And It is easy to get disoriented when wandering around inside the Goblins.

Strange looking place, full of weird shapes and colors!
For a photograph, by the other hand, it's such a great subject and you did a very good job here!
I really like the pov you chose, the colors, the brightness and the simple but effective composition!
TFS - congratulations!
