Photographer’s Note
We visited Kodachrome Basin State Park twice. The day before the sun spent most of the time hiding behind the clouds. This day, as the afternoon was two hot for a long walk in Bryce Canyon, we returned here and was lucky with the light. This view point is near Chimney Rock at the dead-end of a track outside the actual basin but still within the park.
"Geologists believe Kodachrome Basin State Park was once similar to Yellowstone National Park with hot springs and geysers, which eventually filled up with sediment and solidified. Through time, the Entrada sandstone surrounding the solidified geysers eroded, leaving large sand pipes. Sixty-seven sand pipes ranging from two to 52 meters have been identified in the park. Massive sandstone chimneys, change from gray and white to shades of red depending on the day's mood. Numerous rocks and coves offer solitude, quiet and unique desert beauty."

Hello Nikki ,
Can this place be shifted beside my home.I would be most happy to live beside it and I am not worried about hot climate.
But seriously speaking this is an image with very strong composition.
A very well exposed image.
excellent perspective.

Hi Nikki, I always look forward to seeing your desert shots, their depth is awesome and very enviable. The tones and textures you have brought here are just superb. As Jaap says, it must be an amazing feeling to be standing in all that vastness and beauty and to be able to take a part of it away in your camera. Congratulations, it's a beauty, Lisa.

Hello Nikki! We spent three nights here (on the campground, also visiting other things in the area of course, like Bryce Canyon) and it belongs to my great experiences what silence "means". There was nothing. Not one single tone, okay some animals maybe but nothing that made a connection to human presence. Very very nice work, Nikki, you really know how to play with this field here. I have nothing that comes close, okay I have some stuff, also here on TE, but somehow this is so much more this place how you present it. When we were there, it was indredibly windy, I guess from the heat, it had dark blue skies ... and sand everywhere so I was hiding my camera a lot. Have a great Sunday, Barbara.

¿no haberla hecho yo?
Un saludo.

Hola Nikki,
Preciosa imagen, el cielo parece irreal pero es fantástico y le da un gran contraste a la foto. En un día asi, debió de ser un gran placer fotografiar todo lo que tenías delante.
Un abrazo,
Charo

Hi Nikki,
I was just here a last week at the same location in the morning. So I see mostly the silhouette of it. So it is nice to see your in the daylight which show much details and texture of the place. I can see you stand very much near the Chimney Rock. Love the deep saturated blue of the sky and lovely white clouds. My complements
Way
