Hi Fulvio,
These towering cliffs at Zion are among the biggest challenges for landscape photographers. The harsh, unforgiving desert atmosphere doesn't leave us much of a margin of error. The intense midday sunlight creates so much contrast that you would have to spend two days in PS to fix the photo, and if you take this peak during softer, overcast lighting the sky is all washed out. Even the sunset shots are ultra high contrast. I think that you handled this shot like a pro and your framing (using the trees) is beautiful! The late afternoon lighting is excellent and the opposite rich red hues are complimented perfectly with the green foilage. This is a superb landscape image and one that you should be very proud of! You are a talented and very capable photographer. I know, without a doubt, that the great photographic master, Henk, will give you two very enthusiastic thumbs up when he comes back (he may even be a bit jealous of this great shot!).

a shot quite different from your later posts. lost of green... lol. but i love the contrasts and the soothing suggested by the shade of the trees. must be a real treat after a day's worth of hiking on the scorched slopes.

Ahh, I'd give my eye teeth today to be back in Zion. I was so overwhelmed by its' magnificence when there in May that I almost forgot how to take pictures - would love to be back and do a better job next time - don't know if you have noticed a few shots I poste from there in a travelogue? tell me: how many excellent shot you have from there? This sequence is really an eye catcher for all of us. I like to see the vivid greens as the border of the image and once more the plain blue sky was there to make its final touch. Great work!

What a gorgeous picture. The framing is the best part. I really like the saturated colors. Lighting and sharpness are top notch!

One of the things I like about your photography is that you do a lot of hiking and that makes a big difference in the range and quality of the images you ultimately capture.

Nicely composed Fulvio. The trees frame the mountain in a similar triangular pattern. Great exposure and rich colours. I know what you mean about the cottonwoods shining in the sun. I've been to Zion and tried to capture that very thing.

Excellent framing, Fulvio, and bright colours, although the saturation of the sky could be less in my taste... but for the captured light - compliments!

hi Fulvio,
photo for a textbook on composition and how to use natural frames to lead the eye towards the main element in the scene. isn't it? I like a lot the various layers and the sense of depth they create. the colours do not need commenting, excellent as usual.

Nice mountain that contrasts well thanks to its color against the blue and also rises nicely among the greens that provide a good framing to the image. I think you could sharpen a bit more.

Yes, it is indeed incredible what visions may appear before you in the land of Zion and you sit, idly upon your back-side! :)

This one pretty much catches the essence, in green, orange and blue!
