Photographer’s Note
Maple leaves in Zion National Park in Utah, USA. The light was just right here, and the colors were not altered. This was taken in Orderville Canyon, near the Narrows area of the park. I'd like your opinion whether or not I should try to clone out the mess on the tree in the lower right corner. It may go against site rules--I'm not sure--but should I be a purist and keep it there, or show the ideal of nature and remove it?
FROM COMMENTS: I think I'll rework this to remove the dead leaves and gray stuff from the lower right corner. Thanks for your comments. I'm anxious to repost!

The contrast of colours is beautiful. I can't remember my colour theory, but this works for me! I also like your choice of DOF, it works well for the composition, as does the slope of the canyon wall.
The only bit I don't like is the bottom right corner, where the tree looks a bit messy - but I am jsut being a purist here.

As I suspected, the thumbnail did not do justice to another great capture! Beautiful contrasting colors. The leaves seem to be suspended, as in a *mobile* installation.

Well done, pretty the small branch and the mountain at the bottom, it is a good idea and it is well done.

I like the loud colors here. The green works well with the red stone background. The compostion is very good and quite simple. Nice first posting. Welcome to TE

Really great shot! My eye doesn't know what's going on. I guess you could crop the "messy" corner, but in my opinion I think the beige adds somewhat of a "control specimen" for the deeply contrasting green and red.

I think you came when I was on holiday. I'm lucky I found you work to-night because it's the kind of natural scenery I really like!
Here I love the thin tender green against the massive rough red! Well done...
PS: Sorry I haven't no more points to give, my limit has been reached. ;o(

No, I don't think its messy. I think the composition is quite good teh way it is, the contrasting colours very good, very pleasing to the eye. Early morning is definetly the best time to shoot this kind of image.

nice contrasting colors. the short depth of field and the tight cropping make this interesting and artistic. cheers!
