Photographer’s Note
I took this shot during my second and most recent trip to Zion National Park in Utah. We were doing the walk up to the Upper Emerald Pool and passed a pile of rocks that somebody had piled one on top of another and pointed it out to my wife.
On the way back down we passed the same spot again and discovered that someone had built an arch out of them. I thought this was a cheesy photo oppotunity to good to miss, and I'm actually quite pleased with how it came out!
Decided to use a medium aperture as I wanted the empahsis and focus to be on the arch and to blur the background to a slight extent in order to give it a more fairytale feel (for want of a better description).
Let me know what you think, I'll upload a more serious shot of Zion tomorrow.

An excellent composition. I want to go there this coming summer. COuld use a bit of level or contrast adjustment though.

Hi Simon,
Man are you making me jealous with this series! These have the look of Alan Briot images in their tonality. You have a natural eye for composition and a great intuition for manipulating depth of field to support your image.
Cheers!
