This year our autumn leaves turned early, they were bright, but didn't last very long. These bright leaves in the picture, as of this post, are now brown for the winter.
The peak in the background is 11,750ft above sea level, and the elevation of the foreground is approximately 7,500ft above sea level.
Most of the colorful trees are maples and oaks.
I eposed to keep detail in the darker greens and red, and monitored the histogram to make sure I hadn't blown the sky and clouds out.
I used a redhancing filter to try and give the image more of a look as the eye would see the scene.

Wow Dana, most impressive. Too bad we can't do an a/b comparison with the filter here. I'd love to see the difference. But you got some great pop here with the colors. Good work Dana!

très surréaliste avec ces couleurs hyper-saturées, cela provoque une esthétique spécial, très agréable pour l'oeil mais qui enlève tout le naturel du paysage.
Cadrage et POV sont très bien étudiés.
Have a good week-end.

Très joli paysage mais trop saturation trop poussée.

Stunning pic with beautiful colors, i think the semi panoramic crop is perfect for this pic.I don't know if it's just me but the colors for all they are beautiful look just a little oversaturated, maybe your monitor needs calibrating slightly. but lovely pic anyway. Sorry i'm all out of smiley's, the quality of pics today have been high!!!

First and foremost I think you have a beautiful composition here, a wonderful slope in from the right contrasting well with the slope up to the mountain proper in the left of frame - it works really well.
On the, er, "red" question; I think you've just about got away with it - from my own experiences with a D70 I'd say that red enhancement is just about the last thing it needs!
Nice shot either way!

Such an incredible landscape !!!
Colors are really smashing and the composition of your image makes it all.

Spectacular! The colours are so intense, almost overwhelming. The composition is strong too, with the sweeping curve of the valley, the mountains visible in the distance, and the little bit of a tree branch at the upper left. Superb work!

Excellent photo. Amazing colors. You should sell it for a nice 1000 peace puzzle!

Very nice Dana...
I love what the Redhancer 491 filter does for both the reds as well as the sky...
Very, very nice.

I love the rich color rendered in this image. There is no comparison to the color of the maple trees in our mountains.
Perhaps the only improvement to this photo would have been some rotation CCW, I notice the distant clouds and horizion are not level.

What a spectacular image. The details are so sharp and the colors so bright. It is absolutely beautiful. Where was it taken?

Hi Dana, a great image, with a lovely dominat motion on the left side, and a perfect saturation of reds and oranges, very Autumnal.
A question: did you decide before the "panoramic" crop, or was a decision on post-processing?

nice and colorful leaves

Wow, wow, re-wow. I like a lot of your pics, Dana, but I chose this as the winner (for me, obviously). Composition, colors, light, sharpness, format pic, the place!
Thanks for sharing your photos. They are really TrekEarth pics.
