As has been mentioned before, I’m not much of a “car guy” myself, but I have always appreciated the beauty and power they posses, especially these types of classics. After the many impressive car photos I’ve seen here on TE, I figured it was about time I take advantage of one that I’ve had at my disposal for many years now…and I bet you can’t guess the inspiration behind this?? :)
This model of Corvette was produced in St Louis, Missouri from August 1961 through August 1962 with a total production number of 14,531. The base price at the time was $4,038 USD. All 1962 Corvettes were convertibles with over one-half receiving an auxiliary hardtop.
A few fellow photographers in particular, relating to point of view and location (which is much better realized in the WS photo) had a heavy influence on finally getting motivated enough to take these shots. Although it proved a bit more challenging than I would have assumed, it was fun trying to capture this cars appeal. So for all of the enthusiast’s out there, this one’s for you!
Thanks for looking!

love this! An iconic car and captured uniquely and powerfully. It looks so sleek and built for speed in this setting and super w/a shot. I expect Craig (macjake) and John (tyro) will be drooling over this and deservedly so, I'm licking my lips too, would just love a trip in this little beauty. I had a thing for American cars as a kid and used to collect Dinky Toys but cannot remember seeing or having a Corvette.
Execution, setting and POV superb in this attention grabbing presentation. Excellent!
Have a great week - Brian.

you captured here a real "beauty"!And it looks absolutely stunning in red contrasting so lovely to the surrounding.
Superb central POV and excellent PP!
And one aspect more-these metallic elements of the car so beautifully shining in the sun.Really amazing!
Brilliant shot my friend!
Have a nice day

Une photo spectaculaire d'une voiture spectaculaire.Elle ressemble à la Corvette mythique de Route 66. La perspective est superbe avec ce très beau ciel en arrière plan.

Using wide angle lens gives unique look and effect - foreshortening!
Good colours, beautiful car, wonderful sky makes your shot superb composition!
Have a nice day!

well well well....looky what we have here!
when i opened up your gallery page, this red beast hit me in the head full throttle! sorry for the pun, but i couldn't resist! haha
see? isn't it fun to take car photo's like this??
even if you're not a 'car guy' i hope you got to experience some of the fun i'm talking about.
and its more challenging than you thought right?
but look at the final result!
the blue and white skyline makes a HUGE impact aswell for contrast, making the red even more of a focal point.
now i just have to go out and buy one of these! yeah right!!!!
Just looking at this makes me want to post a similar shot of a truck i took in Iceland, even though i'm focused in on my Lima Peru photos right now....we'll see
Hansaphotos (6329) 2013-08-19 5:41
Wow, this is an excellent shot of the red Corvette. The surrounding landscape and the sky provides a fine colour contrast. A clear and crisp view. Excellent! TFS.
Have a nice week.

Good morning Jason,
Fantastic POV over the front of a fantastic car, in red.
Great contrast over the green landscape and blue sky.
The WS also is most intriguing view.
worldcitizen (6141) 2013-08-19 8:21
I'm not particularly into cars either, but this one is a beauty! I love the color. This may have been a challenging shot, but you nailed it. The car practically jumps out of the frame, and the surroundings are nicely-captured, too. It seems that this gorgeous Corvette was found in a cemetery...definitely unusual! I'm sure there's a story behind it... Anyway, great shot! :-)

This is a stunning jewel.

Hello, my friend,
Is this a tribute to Craig? ;) It's truly reminds me his squished and twisted amazing old timers. Yes, I am not big fan of the collection cars, but they are so nice, just a spirit of the past. I remember in my childhood When I began to get involved by cars design these vintage classic forms seemed me very old and not actual. Ferrari is great! - I said.
But it's like the Beatles and Rolling Stones, just a main part of history and an envelopment of the car industry .
And very nice object of our admiration.
Have a good Monday! My Monday is finished. :)

You know, I've always thought that nobody did car design like the good old US, and this is proof if ever it were needed. What a fantastic motor! The red is so vivid, and your point of view is perfect creating an almost 3D style effect. Captivating shot with the car and the rich background. This could easily feature in a professional car magazine, really cool shot.
Someday I'd like the chance to drive a beast like this, for now, its Hyundai's finest (from 12 years ago). Cool shot, cheers
All the best
P.S. Thanks for the Q-bert link, that had me laughing. I used to love that game, but I don't remember it being just the same screen over and over and over and over again! I guess I look at the past with those famous rose tinted glasses!
ktanska (23448) 2013-08-19 10:44
There's been a few of this kind. And the super wide angle from front has been proven successful. So is this one. And this has just superb background. Intense red on bright sunshine and those double lamps look hypnotizing.
subhendu_bagchi (24447) 2013-08-19 11:22
a nice car photography here. Best feedback from a disposal... Ha-ha.
Jokes apart, your composition is very good here. Like the background blue with this red car. Great depth and clarity. A nice contribution to this recent car-series in TE. Like it. Tfs.
Gigidusud (12223) 2013-08-19 12:05
WOW! Fantastic capture of this beautiful red Corvette. It seems out of the picture! Beautiful BG and nice WS too.
The best is that it's my age! :)))

Whoa... 34 points already! Guess we've found a "go to" topic when wanting to get attention here! ;-)
You knew I would love this -- and I do!!! -- so let me point out a few reasons why, ask you a Q about the car, then nitpick a bit, please?
First, the extreme wide angle has greatly exaggerated (in a good way) the width and length of the hood. The windshield is pinched to a third of the width of the car! That kind of extreme perspective is always fun, especially on a classic car, as it forces the viewer to concentrate on one aspect (here, the iconic grill!) and not let my feeble mind wander to other areas of the image.
I also LOVE the "inner thighs" (there I go again) of the headlamp nacelles (not sure I'm using that word right, either!) -- the one on the driver's side is in full sun and the one on the passenger side is wonderfully shadowed. That's a great angle for the light.
So when you say, "one that I’ve had at my disposal for many years ," do you mean you have access to this car, as in -- you get to drive it? *envy* I hope it has a 3-speed (I dare not dream for the 4) and not an automatic, although even with the auto tranny, it's as cool as they come! The WS view discloses (and you can see headstones in the main foto once you know to look for them) that this was shot in a cemetery -- EXCELLENT choice for a nice, quiet setting!
Pick some nits? WHERE is the shadow on the license plate coming from? It's distracting! And it's worst on the plate but it also seems to trail up into the grill. Is that YOU? ;-) I don't see any shadow on the pavement, though! Okay, ONE nit to pick. That's it!
Cool machine, nicely captured!

wow, what a cool shot! Looks a bit like a hammerhead to me:) Amazing contrast and colors and a terrific presentation. Perfect, stylish and with a hollywood-like backdrop. Sexy greetings from the 60s, I guess Austin Powers would love it too, though he prefers a "Shaguar", lolz:))
Thanks and best wishes!

Hi Jason, I am sure you were thinking about Craig doing this photo! Stunning view. What colour and the compositio n. Amazing work. I like it very much. Co ngreatulations!1
Royaldevon (24388) 2013-08-20 14:32
Your viewpoint collects the features of this car, like a bulbous face, staring confidently back at us! The panoramic format perfectly matches the subject, emphasising its wide, low form.
It is sharp, with well saturated colours.
I love how the reflections from its chrome reveals its shiny textures.
My warm regards,
nikkitta (11212) 2013-08-20 14:32
Woww used of wide angle effect to present this old but quite good preserved car

1961 a wonderful car with all comfort..

The car is well placed in the frame. The front end point of is showwing the curves of the 1962 Corvette. It is an impressive car. The good luminosity is making the colours to stand out. Have a nice day.

And you got a great shot! The car seems huge from here, the light is great and the colour stands out perfectly. The Ws is very good but this one is fabulous. You just found a perfect pov!

Encore une très belle image ici avec cette ancienne Corvette rouge.Le cadrage est très soigné.L'image est parfaitement exposée et nette.

I love classy old cars and enjoy looking at pictures and reading about them in magazines, although I don't even drive:) This is a beautiful portrait, full of the Corvette's red charm and dynamic character. Although your composition has exalted its dynamism and nerve, it has retained a sense of mystery too. I like the authority of the symmetry as well as the dense and lovely contrasting colours surrounding the car. The location is original and challenging, a striking juxtaposition. Sharpness, depth and lighting are exquisite. I love the workshop picture too. Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a lovely day,
