Formerly known as Eagle Gate Tower, this particular downtown building is now called the World Trade Center at City Creek. It sits on one of the busier intersections in the heart of the city center, although it was void of any people at the moment I decided to take this shot. :) I was mostly attracted to this corner of the building as the morning light was such that it created some heavier shadows of contrast to the opposing directions of this tiered entry and building façade.
There’s really nothing more to this shot, other than the fact I liked the touch of some geometric pattern. Keeping it simple today.
The WS picture is a full view, color version of the building.

Both pic.s show a great view of a towewr in town.
personally, I prefer the WS in full view and in colors, graet bronze tone.
Yet, the B&W pic. here, show well a closer POV with the moderrn balconies just above street level.
Fine outlines in good sharpness.
Enjoy a nice weekend,

A very nice architecture. YES it's plain and simple. I'm not sure what is better B&W or colour but your shot is superb. TFS
Have a nie weekend!

nice monochrome study this. The light and shadows make it so arty and a tad retro. Glorious symmetry and a perfect execution make it work wonderfully. Aptly titled too, I always seem to be struggling to find new and original titles nowadays mate!
Enjoy the weekend - Brian.
Like the WS version too - impressive building!

Really nice choice in black and white here, it does emphasize the lines and shapes really nicely. This building actually reminds me of two things, and two very different things too. The first is the Hanging gardens of Babylon. I've never been there of course, but this lower section is how I always imagined it would look. A few trees, climbers and waterfalls now and I think you have a world wonder on your hands! The other, slightly more bizarre thing it reminds of is the old video game Q-bert. Looks just like his board, and I can see him bouncing around making that weird noise.
Nice one for uploading the workshop too so we can see this fine building in all its glory. Its seeing beautiful modern towers like this make me pine for some nice big structures in Dublin, but I don't think that is to ever happen. At least I get to see your cool shot though, thanks for sharing.
All the best

Mais aussi beau et bien fait. Une architecture simple encore plus magnifiée par cette superbe lumière et l'utilisation du noir et blanc.

Looking at the workshop, it is quiet amazing what a tight cropping can make out of a ordinary building. The geometric patterns created here are really amazing and the black and white approach was a definitely good choice.
have a great weekend

une belle composition graphique, le N&B fonctionne bien.

Plain & Simple but have a nice graphical impact. The vertical lines of the building is looking nice and the front zigzag creates nice contrast to it. Excellent processing in black and white. Razor sharp. Nice depth achieved. Excellent shot. Tfs.

I like it!
I specially enjoyed the choice for black & white, the management of light and the composition in this vertical format!
TFS - congrats,
Enjoy your week-end,

I really like both photos. Excellent graphic, good example of mix of the shapes& stripes. Photography means "to write by lights ". Fine result!
I don't understand your climate. I think a hot desert and the Winter Olympic Games are very incompatible things. ;) I wonder by this fact.

Hi Jason, there is only the car whit its curves to break the geometric and linear composition,a great black and white taken whit a special 3D effect made by the light position, original pic and a great pleasure for my eyes,i like it! Have a nice Sunday and thanks,Luciano

you know what this building reminds me of?
the arcade game QBert!
he had to jump around the geometrical shapes that were in the form of a triangle or pyramid..
so where is he? where's Qbert? haha
I have to say that i was pleasantly surprised how awesome the building looked in full color, and just the overall design of it - there's something about it, the understated but strong look. I like it.
but I can see why you chose this viewpoint too.
although I would love to replace the VW with a sleek Hotrod! (with a blonde advertising it...oops! did I just say that?) lol...that was suppose to be my inside voice!
cool geometry going on here
see you around

Both shots are worthy of being posted, each showing a different sense of character.
The car and the lamppost are very useful in clueing us into the scale.
There is a symbolic sense of moving from the natural (trees), via the step-like formations, to the very abstract. I like it.
Have a great Sunday,

brilliant architecutre shot!
Sometimes simplicity can be much more expressive in photography than more detailed captures. In this case I like your choice of B&W and of course your excellent treatment of it.It emphasizes much more better all the geometric shapes and patterns the building creates. One thing more I really enjoy are these stylish street lamps-they look magnificent in combination with modern skyscraper behind.
Great to see you had some free time to take some shots of your hometown.
PS.the shot in WS is superb!I love the POV(where did you take the shot from?)
Wish You a nice sunday

Very nice b&w capture with perfect graphical effect.
This is what I often use to say "the beauty of the simplicity" .
Perfect TE entry with many interesting notes.
TFS and best regards

Outstanding monochrome photo, excellent light, superb viewpoint. It is a well-chosen framing, in a slight low-angle shot that works very well graphically, and gives a nice perspective to the elegant architecture of this building. The light and the shades have a beautiful effect on the elements. Well done.

Une belle idée de cadrage serré, le jeu ombre, les reflets et les formes géométriques, celle en WS est superbe aussi, je pense qu'elle méritait un post principal aussi
adores (38629) 2013-09-03 17:44
It's a nice composition, specially because of the graphism and the difference between the building in foreground and background. Light creates a nice effect also. It's much better in b&w!
