Photographer’s Note
Ok, going back a few years to our Western US Vacation of 2004. I have had this image on my desktop for weeks now, looking for an opportunity to share it, but I keep finding other stuff to post...
This is the Momon Temple in Salt Lake City, Utah, taken just outside the entrance to Temple Square. I exposed for the sky and the spires of the temple magically silhouetted in the photograph. I did add just a little bit of darkness to them, though, to enhance the silhouette effect. Luckily I was far enough away that both the architecture and the clouds turned out clear. That Olympus 8080WZ camera is really great for shots like this.
Have a great Friday and an even better weekend!

I wondered if I prefer more details in shadows, but actually this silhouette is quite enough to achive great impression.

Hi Reed,
In a spooky mood today, aren't we?
Great shot, very minimalistic and atmospheric . Wonder if someone will complain about the lack of symmetry. ;o)
Have a great weekend (I suppose you'll have to comfort your friend now that the Blues are out of the playoffs), take good care

I've seen many photos of the SLC temple, but not one like this. The silhouette is amazing, as much as it is ominous (especially with them funky clouds). Clever shot!

Hi Reed:
It's a bit dark, but otherwise very nice. It's a fabulous composition and I love the silhouette of the temple--really cool. Temple Square is a beautiful place, particularly at Christmas, but anytime. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Reed, wow look at that sky. I dunno how you managed to get sillhouette and such beautiful deep blues, but you've given us one helluva shot. (Must be the Mormons helping you out somehow :P Have a good one anyways, Lisa.

Hi Reed,
This shot reminds me of the Adams family, I can hear Lurch playing away at the piano in the background.
Now it's about the symmetry, you know, the one out back where all the dead folks are.
I like your interpretation here, your more creative approach has turned out a interesting and different looking shot.
Good stuff.

Pete

hello Reed,
this IS spooky, like a fairy tale castle before Sleeping Beauty has been awakened. good way to show this unique architecture, leaving towers as silhouettes nicely focuses attention on the defining shapes and forms, while leaving out details that might have been distractive. nice one, even if spooky :)
regards,
Kristine
