Photographer’s Note
Or possibly, summer in the American West, or something of the sort. This was fire in the foothills above Provo, Utah, and of all things was started by a lawn mower hitting a rock and a spark went into the dry grass.
The thing interesting here, is, too close for comfort could be said for the fire burning near homes, and close to camping and recreation areas, but if you look at the shot, the plane dropping the fire retardant and the helicopter with the bucket are very very close to each other.
When I was photographing this my son and I had to almost look away, and let the camera go on continuous so we didn't have to see the crash. Luckily no-one was hurt in this fire.
Three men were killed by a fire today in eastern Utah, a sad commentary, as most of the fires in the west are human caused.

What a unique capture. Love how the red of the fire retardant pops out against the smoke. Hopefully they got this one under control, and glad there was no accident.

Hello Dana,
Remarkable panoramitic shot in which you've captured the drama and the tragedy of the forest fire. An engaging and informative note makes it all the more real.
Warm regards,

Dana,
This is a great shot. Good flow of color and motion and unique point of view.
I would guess this shot would do well on the KSL.com photo contest about local weather. (You could win a canon camera).
Keep up the good work, I have learned much from the information in your posts and the striking images you have here at TE.

Hi Dana:
Good action shot of the fire. The flames were fairly big when I went up to Rock Canyon to check it out. I like the many different meanings of the title as well.
