Photographer’s Note
Please forgive my one last indulgence from the skatepark. I promise my next post will be something pretty.
About the Photo: This was taken at the Orem skatapark a few minutes after my last posted photo. I was in position, ready to photograph Dave (the skater from my last post), when I saw this kid skating towards me out of the corner of my eye. I swung around and shot several photographs of him doing a trick in the air, but I liked this photo of his failed landing better. He was cursing up a storm after not landing his trick. ;)

Great shot, I like the contrasts and how the fast shutter speed freezes the motion. Also very good composition, the background almost perfectly lines up with the main subject.

Hello Ryan,
I like it, amazing timing you suspended the time and you getted perfect focus on the skater.

Hello my friend,
I waited long before i could place a comment on this one. Maybe because it is not really my piece of cake? These street scenes are not my favorites, maybe because i never tried to do this.
Your previous one was full of action, that i am missing here a bit. The pose of the man is a bit strange.
What i do like is your B&W workflow, that is really good and i am interested in what you do to create this. All on hand using the channel mixer or do you use something else?

Hi Ryan,
Everyone seems to have missed your title. I think the photo is really funny because of the broad expanse of underwear showing; I always wonder how those pants stay up. They must if he can keep them up doing tricks. You've also captured well his rigid anger, you can almost hear the swear words. Hopefully he won't see this post :-) Pat

Hello Ryan,
Good action shot. I like the use of black and white, it gives more drama to the image. Good timing on your part.

Funny and pertinent title for this picture, LOL. The framing is perfect and the B&W, even not being your favorite choice, fits excelent to this shot.

How come I have not seen this one before? This is just great! I am not a big fan of these giant subjects filling a whole squared frame, but the timing and the guy's body language is amazing. Your b&w is very good too, just to my liking. The details on the guy's clothing are amazing. See the wrinkles in the shirt and the light in the worn trousers. And I can almost read your title in the black underwear. Very funny! Very good indeed!

Hello Ryan,
Something different, but a really good action shot with the right timing. I also love that this photo was taken in black and white, it gives it a special effect. The way the guy is moving is really well captured. Great composition with a great choice of title as well! Great work, Ryan!
Greetings,
Ann

Hi Ryan,
This is quiet an amazing (mostly) landscape gallery you have!! That's why I pick this photo for today, haha. Stakeboard photos are usually focusing on the well executed tricks that's why I really like this one, closer to what you usually see in a skatepark (failed attempts, haha). But the shot is so well frozen, the guy is like floating, really nice. And B&W is also (rather) original for skate photos.
And by the way, you can send it to the underwear brand that the guy is wearing, they would love it for the next skateboard magazine ;-)
Very nice work!
Thanks
Vincent

Nearly like the “Straw Etiquette”. If only the face of the boy in that moment could be seen...
A very detailed photo (nearly can be read the label of the underwear:-D). Failed trick because of the trousers?? The "trick" is successful with the camera!

Hi Ryan, this "sport" is sooo photogenic, skating leads to tremendous documentary, some are masters in photographying them and filming them, i do love to watch on TV some "5 minutes to be amazed films", tony hawk and all of those masters.
Your picture is excellent, so well composed and you predicted it well this unpredictable scene.
All my congratulations

Hi Ryan,
Must say that you have an impressive gallery with awesome photografies.
I feel for this one in particular which I believe is as pretty as your landscape shots. Of course its a different style and I don't think they can be compared.
You just captured an excellent moment, frozing the kid in the air. The choice of B&W gives also the picture the strenght that would not have been achieved in colour.
HAVE A NICE DAY
cheers
Rolando
