Valley of the Gods, a photo from Utah, West

Photographer's Note

During a trip of 4 weeks through the National Parks in the West of the USA, it was not possible anymore, due to lack of time, to visit Monument Valley in Arizona. That was for me the biggest disappointment of the whole vacation. But we came through the Valley of the Gods in Utah which was like Monument Valley. It was the best thing that happened to me. I was really overwhelmed and touched by the beauty of the landscape. Beside that, the weather was actually very hazy, and that created a special atmosphere. I still can't say whether it's a good picture, or that it is because of my feelings and memories that make it such a special picture for me.

Rinie, the thumbnail doesn't do right to this picture, as the full size version is much better! The haze and noise make this photo look like a painting. Did you add this noise on purpose? Perhaps you could crop a little from the top to get the horizon a bit above the center of the picture.

Very very nice. I love the warm colors - is the ground that red? A little hazy yes but it looks like haze due to hot air raising from the ground, it just makes the picture more representative of the weather conditions in this area.

Not too far from where I live actually (here is Arizona). I have't taken too many from my own home area. Still waiting on a digicam. Nice color though.

I like wide-angle landscape shots like this one. The deep rusty color is a very nice contrast to the haze in the background.

Just like Michael I was thinking of a painting as well. That red color is so pwerful in the front, and the warm colors are spread throughout the picture. I guess the sky could use a little contrast... It's the only "critique" I can give!

Good scenery always make good memory. Just like good people and event. I have no complaint about this photo, only enjoying it. Then again, a little Neatimage to remove or soften the brown noise wouldn't hurt. Thank you for sharing a beautiful memory Rinie.

Hi Rinie !
Good shot with all this almost red colored soil and short and dry vegetation very tipical of that region. And the background mountains,,, marvelous !
For me it has a atmosphere of nostalgia remembering me the old western movies that my daddy liked so much and we use to watch together,,,

As You have not posted a new one I´m digging a little bit on your gallery. I visited this one I have felt myself like transported to this landscape. No wonder John Ford became crazy about it. It´s pure poetry for the eye. Thanks for sharing Rinie.
