Another wonderful red sandstone landscape of buttes and monoliths is Valley of the Gods, just north east of Monument Valley in southern Utah.
The Valley is on federal land protected by the Bureau of Land Management. It is accessed by a 17 mile gravel road, and there are no services, nor commercial development (Hurrah!).
"The Valley of the Gods - Nature's statues are all sculpted from Cedar Mesa sandstone dating to the Permian age, 250 million years ago. The 1,200 foot thick sandstone was cemented by calcium cabonate interspersed with layers of red siltstone and was deposited in huge sand dunes near the shores of an ancient sea. Erosion by water, wind, ice, and gravity over millions of years chiseled rock formations into the unique shapes we see today."

that is a spectacular view of nature's sculpture. The inclusion of the trees in the foreground gives an idea of its height. The composition is excellent with warm colours and fine details. Great note that aids our appreciation of this natural wonder.
Thanks for sharing and have a great new week.

Fantastic rock prominently above the valley, Ray, red color and texture.
An imaginary Elephant, and eagle or maybe an ancient Egyptian Sphinx - all due to my imagination that works O/T...
Fine contrast with the yellow trees on lower part.

A very beautiful view with all these pleasant autumnal colours. An interesting note and a very impressive rock formation with all these sediment layers so clearly exposed. Are there many fossils found here?

A very impressive huge and sharp rock. A natural monument.
Excellent inclusion of the trees with their beautiful autumn tones on the foreground. They provide a gentler view in front of the rugged landscape.
Best regards, Paul

this is really strange rock formation - I guess the nature is the best artist with unlimited imagination. Well captured in vertical format and with lovely warm colors. The trees at the bottom of the composition add some softening element to the picture.

Wow! Monument Valley and its environs are places I would love to visit and this picture reinforces that desire.
A splendid photograph of this beautiful and majestic place with lovely light and colours, perfect exposure and exquisite details and sharpness. Fine composition too.
