Landscape Arch Photo

Photographer’s Note

This is Landscape Arch in Arches National Park. This is one of the longest arches in the world. It has a 306ft (93.5m) span, and is 106ft (32m) high. Back in Sept, 1991 a large section fell from the arch. It left a precariously thin section of arch you can see on the right. They believe its days are numbered.
On a personal note, I lost my lens cap right there in the deep sand in the trail. Please let me know if you find it. Thanks!

Interesting place, the color and contrast are very good. I like the sharpness. good capture, this is just original most of the arch i see here in TE are manmade.....rgds

Beautiful shot with simple composition and clear colors!
It might be more fun to approach a little more and take with the wide-angle lens, if it's possible.

This is interesting. The curve of the rock being natural over time. Nice shot.

I think I found your lens cap! Is it for an Olympus C-5060 Wide Zoom lens? [just kidding, but I'll keep my eyes open!]. I like here how the arch is in the upper third of the photo.

Wow! Nice sharp capture of this magnificent wonder. Am not sure how this natural arch be preserved from breaking. Hope it maintains it strength for a long time. Good composition and exposure of sky. Good catch!

Hi Stephen, I did not find your lens cap, because I was there in 2000 ;-).
Good landscape shot, the crispness is very good, and you were lucky with such a sky, oh well, I see you had a polarizer.
Beautiful arch, I have seen pictures, that they were allowed to walk on it. I also don't think it will have a long life

Very interesting rock formation. This also reminds me of the natural bridge in Virginia. The only thing I would have done is increase the gamma correction using an image editor.

The small piece of blue under the arch is excellent and makes the arch stand out from the background. Good composition, excellent exposure and good notes.

Nice landscape given by nature. You just capture the beauty of it. Good color saturation as well.

Will look for you lens cap if i go, but the first thing to do is to enjoy it, and capture it!

wonderful image. been there but haven't been back so not able to look for the lens cap. nice detail in this image and like that there is a lot of foreground and very little blue sky. small detail is watch for pieces of things like the brush in the lower left corner is a little distracting. however overall this is a rich and interesting shot. thank you for posting. good luck on your next trip.

Nice rock arch sight here. Sorry about your lens cap loss. Mine always goes into my pocket while shooting and back on asap. And two years ago I lost my 3020 Olympus by dropping it and the lens popped out . Now when I turn it on all it does is hum and click hum and click. SO a little tip for you...Always use the neck strap..I didn't and I lost my 3020 camera..Oh yes... sorry..Im supposed to critique this shot..Nice light and great span...at the graveyard of your lens cap..

Great nature shot, maybe one day it will fall and all its beauty will go down with it. I hope that this will never happen. Long live for the arch!.
It would have been better, to put a referential to see better the dimensions of the arch, for example a person, in this case this has helped. I think the small trees are not enough for that.

The arch seems to hold miraculously. It is well deserved by the blue sky behind. I found your lens cap on the path. You can see it also: just make a zooming by a factor of X50 on the path ... :-)

Ah, I see it has not fallen down yet! I was there in '96! Excellent profile of the arch against the sky. I was there at dusk and couldn't get anything so powerful! Thanks for surfing by my photos, I see you go to a lot of places I like too, so looking forward to going through your gallery! Maura
