There are so many sandstone buttes and monoliths within Valley of the Gods, that many are not named. I thought the top of this huge monolith looked like George Washington's profile?
Valley of the Gods is protected by government's Bureau of Land Management, and there are no services or any type of commercial operations here, which makes for a perfect au natural experience. A 17 mile dirt road winds through the landscape devoid of civilization. There are no designated campgrounds, but you may camp by following the protection rules. The Valley is located in southern Utah between Highways 163 and 261.

Excellently captured sandstone rock from very well selected viewpoint. The view from lover angle makes the rock majestic and dominant. The light is perfect, the contrast against blue sky superb. Well done.

now that you point it out I would agree that there is an uncanny likenesss to the great man.
The fascinating shapes and colour are really well portrayed against the clear blue sky.

so is this just your opinion or is it a commonly thought of idea that this looks like George Washington?
I have to actually agree with you on this one, it DOES look like a side profile of the man!
fun and interesting post for TE, well done.

A complete natural Mount Rushmore then?
Or at least one fourth of it.
Wonderful red colour of the rock with a great blue background.
Best regards, Paul

The sandstone is very soft material and the wind made amazing sculptures of these monoliths. Yes, I see the face, but I am not sure about G.W., may be it is his brother ;)
I like to see this combination of the red&blue colors.
Excellent presentation of the West nature.
