Photographer’s Note
I was snowshoeing in the canyon near my home and I came upon these dense willow bushes near a small stream. I really like how the colors and focus turned out, but perhaps "I can't see the forest for the trees" as a famous saying goes here in the U.S.

Your note explain very well your vision, and I agree with you about the focus. Thats for me too a nice and unusual picture. Well seen!

Wonderful DOF, it's hard to tell which is near and which is far. I like the frost drops on the branches.
I made a WS, a little bit different.

Beautifully done, David. It's indeed great how the colors (however few there are) and the focus turned out on this one. By the way we have exactly the same saying in Germany; maybe you came across that when you lived here years ago. Anyway, nice work!

Yes its an amazing use of DOF - makes me kind dizzy. The image also contains some nice soft colors. The same saying also used in Denmark ;-)

Well done David. I like the softness in the colours and the way you have used the dof. Good job.

Unusual and charming. I like the sweet colours and all these lines which form the covered in frost branches. Excellent composition. Good shot!
Inhabituel et charmant. J'aime les couleurs douces et toutes ces lignes que forment les branches givrées. Excellente composition.

A delicate fine composition, almost abstract.
Fine colours, soft and inviting. A nice picture David.
...and have some fine x-mas days "over there"!
(out of points.. comes tomorrow)

Dutch: "Je kan door het bos de bomen niet meer zien..."
Perfect framing, great DOF! Glad we can see the trees, it's such a wonderful image! All the twinkelling diamonds on the branches... Just great David! *Joyeux Noël*

A very good idea for a shot David. Trees and forests are very difficult subjects to get 'just right', and your solution here is to take a whole new approach to composition, using a focus-based approach. I looked at the B&W workshop, and it actually works better than the color, because it draws attention to the more sharply focussed branches - in the color version the nearer branches have a tendency to be a little distracting. The presence of whiter areas makes this one above average though.

Hi David,
This one caught my eye again - there is a definite pinkish cast and this balanced by the blues / greys, makes a marvelous abstract composition - it reminds me of some Monet or Van Gogh colour combinations.
