Photographer's Note

A much larger protected area than Valley of the Gods is the nearby Grand Staircase - Escalante National Monument spanning almost 2 million acres of America's public lands. From its spectacular Grand Staircase of sandstone cliffs and terraces, across the rugged Kaiparowits Plateau, to the wonders of the Escalante River Canyons, the Monument's size, resources, and remove character provide extraordinary opportunities for geologists, paleontologists, archeologists, historicans, and biologists in scientific research, education, and exploration. And the photographer will find many rewarding locations to explore.

This remote autumn cabin scene is near Kanab, Utah in the Escalante River Canyon, Highway 89.
