Photographer’s Note

Taken on my most recent US trip, this is the second time I've been to Bryce and it's one of my favourite National Parks in the US.

We'd just finished doing a hike and were on our way back to the car when we walked passed this sign (not much use at the end of the hike!!). I thought it would make an interesting foreground object with the the view of the canyon in the background.

It was quite overcast when we were there, so the sky wasn't great but the colours in the hoodoo's are still beautiful and in real contrast to the tree in the foreground.

good POV on the cartel...leaving the bryce amphitheatre on the BG....what do you think about it?
well... have been in Bryce as well...and the more I see picture of it...the more I love it. classics never get out of fashion!

Hi Simon,

Great capture, perfect composition. I don't think I've ever seen this perspective. Well seen!
By the way, about your comment about the sign being at the end of the hike... I think most people choose to start their hike at that location, going down Navajo Loop trail and either coming back up the same way, or doing the longer (but much more beautiful and interesting) combination of Navajo and Queen's Garden trails.

Hi Simon,

An image with a bit of humor is rare but always a welcome sight. At first I thought I wanted more depth of field but having looked a bit longer the f/9 calls the viewer's attention perfectly to where you want it - the sign. Nicely done.
