Photographer’s Note

There were two trails to the Delicate Arch. We took the shorter one and it appeared we had only a distant view. Between the place I am standing and the Arch is a deep canyon (behind the hell rocks). There are some beautiful photo close to the arch so maybe it is better to show another view.

Delicate Arch is a 52 ft (16 m) tall freestanding natural arch located in Arches National Park near Moab, Utah.

It is the most widely-recognized landmark in Arches National Park and is depicted on both Utah license plates and a postage stamp commemorating Utah's centennial anniversary of statehood in 1996. The Olympic torch relay for the 2002 Winter Olympics passed through the arch.Delicate Arch is formed of Entrada Sandstone. The original sandstone fin was gradually worn away by weathering and erosion, eventually leaving the arch. Other arches in the park were formed the same way but due to placement and less dramatic shape are not as famous.
In WS other shot with the canyon. If you have a good sight you can see white points near the arch. These are the tiny figures of the people who were not so lazy and went the longer trail.
