Photographer’s Note
Antelope Island, where this image was taken is the largest island in The Great Salt Lake. This view is to the northwest, towards the Promontory Mountians, where the transcontinental railroads met in 1869.
I was hopeing for more clouds to make the sky a little more exciting, but thats all I could conjure.
I placed the exposure to give detail in all but the deepest shadows of the rocks up close, and developed for the highlights in the June grass in the forground. I knew I couldn't keep the clouds.
I used a Wratten G filter (-blue) to reduce the sky somewhat. A more aggresive filter could have been used to good advantage.
I have printed this image a number of times, but had not noticed the varience in the sky. Had I noticed it in '93, I would have purchased the CPP and drums sooner.
I'm sure a little time and photoshop would solve it. I'll save those type of postings for TrekLens.

A very nice shot ! The blue tone gives the picture a completely different feeling than a pure Grey would have done...
Well framed ! this is a great picture !

I love your composition and the capturing of the wide range of tones in this outdoor shot. I especially like the detail in the rocks and grass, as well as your handling of the clouds. Kind of neat is the left tip of the rock, which is barely separated from the horizon & distant moutain--as if we're peering just over the rock. Everything is such that I can feel the breeze in this pix. Thanks a bunch for sharing!
Technical Q's: Do you mean that by using a more aggressive filter you mean yellow/orange/red?
What a CPP and drums? Are those the tubes used in constant agitation processing?
