Photographer's Note
I miss home... Portland Oregon is adjacent to the Columbia River gorge, home to windsurfing, hiking and wonderful waterfalls. One of our favorite hikes is called "dog mountain". Not sure why... maybe people like to take there dogs there. Anyway, I noticed this photo from last year.
This is a great time to hike dog mountain with all the flowers...
I sharpened and adjusted the color somewhat.

This photo caught my attention as I live in the Columbia River Gorge, just 5 or so miles from Dog Mountain. I've only been to the top twice, whew! what a hike! I never did make it when these balsam flowers were in bloom though, and I don't know that I will. The hike is VERY steep, even the "easier" way, and I'd like to avoid the rattlesnakes in the summer. I am grateful there are those hikers who have managed to take photos of the beauty of the flowers. This photo is nice and clear, the sky really is that blue, and the flowers really are that yellow without photo editing. A great shot!
