Taken at the Japanese Gardens in Portland, this tree is a favorite of photographers. It's a Japanese Maple tree and though it looks rather big in photographs it is only about 5 or 6 feet tall. The best way to photograph it is by lying on the ground or, as I did in this case, use a wide angle lens and put the camera on the ground.

A beautiful specimen here, love the colours and the moss growing all over it, it must have seen many years of life already. I like your way of photographing it from a low and wide angle, and it fills the entire frame of the composition with its twisted branches and colourful leaves, which is great.

Amazing maze with soft hues well backlighted filling the whole frame!

I'm pleased that this is in a Japanese Garden for it reminds me so much of Japanese art, like the patterns on their silk fabrics.
The backlighting is wonderful, illuminating the colours.
I have visions of lots of people, all prostrate, trying to get the best possible angle on the tree! Now, that would make quite a different, but very interesting, shot.
Have a lovely day,

Hello, good pov for this very famous tree. I have seen other images of it with different colors in the sky. Good detail in the moss and the in the shadows.

Diving for your gallery I see you have a complete collection of photos of many types, landscapes, nature, animals, insects, plants, trees, ... and most of them are really interesting. I like this photo for its colors and textures. In general I think you have a very good management of colors and postprocessing. A very interesting gallery to learn.
