Photographer’s Note
This photo is of the Yaquina Lighthouse in Newport, Oregon.
As most of you who follow my work know, I love the ocean and all the majestic subjects she has, including lighthouses.
As much as I photograph them all, you would think I would run out of ways to compose them. I am so very grateful that the spirit that follows me guides me to compositions I finally end up processing and posting on the Trek websites.
Those spirits would be of all of you who take the time to express your ideas either through critiquing my work or by me visiting your photos.
How is it that complete strangers become so close that your voices resonate in my ears when I am searching for the perfect composition. How is it that when I am so busy that I miss you all when I can't get online to view just a few sites.
This photo of the lighthouse rising out of the rocky cliff is symbolic to the growth I am gaining in my photography and the light, all of you, guiding me in finding my own artistic being.
I am so very grateful and blessed.
Take care,
Bettina Marie =0)

The slop of the cliff makes this image for me, really lifts it beyond the realms of standard lighthouse photos - great POV!
I think the frame is a bit too dominant though. Still, a nice pic, well done!

Hi Bettina. Interesting angle. I like how it is coming up out of the rock; much different view than expected. Great colors as well as being nice and sharp.

What a great shot of Oregon's tallest lighthouse. Not the usual point of view. Well done!

Hi Bettina, the composition is definitely the element that lifts this shot. Very good colours and sharpness, too.
Best wishes,

Hello Bettina.
A truly classic shot of a lighthouse. The internal contrast of the sloping hillside with the vertical tower adds alot of visual interest to the photo. I like the subdued colors, reminds me so much of the evenings spent by the shore. Good coordination between the frame colors and those colors within the shot.
Regards,
Chris.

Hi Bettina. Lighthouses are always fascinating subjects but it is unusual to see one without the sea as a backdrop. I think this aspect gives this shot instant impact. The foreground bank adds a strong diagonal element to the composition and also adds depth to the photo. Excellent photo and thanks for sharing.
Cheers, Paul.

hi betina
this lighthouse is really so impressive . the bacground is dark but not very dark, and the lights are on which is good creates and artistic view. also I liked your frame option, brown suits well with the soil and of course black suits well with the same colored part of the lighthouse
