Photographer’s Note

This photo was taken on the Pacific Ocean, just outside Newport, Oregon.

I took this photo through the window of the boat so I apologize if it is not crystal clear. Salt air can really dirty up boat windows. This day was New Year's Eve and is another from our trip to go whale watching. We didn't see any whales but we did get to see the fishermen who bring in all types of fish and crab that I love to eat. If you look towards the back of the boat you will see a swell that is between 15 and 20 feet...you only get to see the beginning but after I took this photo.....we were on top of it and descending! On this day it was bitterly cold but inside we were warmed by the friendly wave you see here in the photo.

I have much admiration for fishermen and am grateful they do the job they do. I love the ocean and being out in nature...but I don't know that I could go out every day in any kind of weather and risk my life to bring in food for others to consume. To all the fishermen....I thank you!

Take care all!
