A view of Yaquina Head and the Yaquina Head Lightouse near Newport, Oregon, from a vantage point above the dunes. Yaquina Head's lighthouse is a 93 foot tower. It was built in 1873 and is a classic lighthouse notable from that period. The lighthouse lantern is 12 feet high and is rated as a First Order Fresnel Lens. The "First Order Fresnel lens" is the largest lens and is made of hundreds of glass prisms to increase the maginification of the lantern.
