A closer image of one of the rock formations past the main Unit's perimeter. This image was taken just as the sun was travelling behind another hillside behind my location in hoping that its cloaking would even out the strong light, and create better depth through the shadows.

Love the shot! You have captured this rock formation in beautiful light, with wonderful shadown play and details. The colors are amazing. Great composition and well captured! Great work, Steven!

Beautiful mountain with these sharp-pointed projections and his(her, your) color reddish ocher. A solitary place but with a lot of visual force. Excellent light and details.

I have been to all three units and certainly the Painted Hills is the more attractive and photogenic. Sheep Rock has also very interesting geologic formations as the Cathedral Rock and the Blue Basin, but the Clarno Unit really didn't give me anything. Interesting to see how much effort you put into this area and maybe I would need another trip there to explore it a little bit more and find the hidden treasures. The alternating light and shadows along the "hoodoos" provides exactly what you were trying to get - depthness. The post seems to be somewhat oversharpened - at least to my eyes ;-)

The closer view allows to see in greater details and some of the rocks make me think of fairy chimneys. Nice contrast and sharpness too!
Have a nice day
