Photographers Note
Happily Larry felt well enough to run up to our 'Little Deschutes River Cabin' (!030 Mi/ 1600+ Km) to pick up our tax records; we had been in the process of moving to Oregon when the Lymphoma struck.
Yesterday morning we awoke to this scene outside out door; Larry HAD to go skiing at Mt Bachelor The Mountain had 145'/316 cm of snow. It was quite clear from the solid stream of cars heading up that Bend wasn't ready to be done with winter. However, Larry had left a vital piece of ski gear in San Diego so we didn't make it skiing.
On the way home, I thought I saw a snow bear.

Hi Pat,
A great "snow" capture. Wow, those flakes must be the size of golf balls? We had snow something like that in our community today too. Well done and TFS. gerald

Hello Pat,
A scene reminiscent of this year's weather patterns in Oregon for sure. The image looks just like Deschutes River Woods area, but in Central Oregon, they all look the same when the homes are not of the 2-3,000 SQ. FT. type.
Big flakes, big snow, tell Larry its too bad he forgot his poles.
A warm scene even if it was 25 degrees outside.
Well captured...

Hi Pat,
Flash indeed illuminates those snowflakes well. Quite simple backyard view, but snowfall is beautifully displayed. It's surprising how mucjh snow that region gets. There never is that much in Finland.

Hi Pat
A nice grouping of trees with the snowflakes softly falling. They look to be quite large (skiers delight size).

The fill-flash had a fantastic effect, not only on the fallen snow but also on teh overall ambience of the scene. It's a real Winter Wonderland. I especially like the tree on the left. In the WS that's not a snow-bear, but Little White Riding Hood. ;D
I suppose you now have to worry about the condition of the roads to get back to SD. At this time of year maybe the snow won't last long.
Take care

Hi, Pat.
Sort of different from San Diego, ain't it? LOL!!! I fully agree about using the flash, some flakes might get a little overexposed but I got no problem with that, the important thing is the whole scene comes now to life. And it sure is a lovely one, TFS! Have a great day, see ya soon.
Fulvio.

Hello Pat! This is fun and it feels like standing in the snow myself feeling the heavy white on my skin and hair. What a wonderful snow dance, the flash is a fun tool in this case and brings out the flakes very strong. I do it sometimes just the same, happy as a child seeing what comes out :))) Best regards from sunny dark blue sky Zuerich ... Barbara.

Hi Pat,
It is an impressive snowfall!!
Good capture with the weak light of the dawn, with a good work in the exposure and a nice optical effect of the snowflakes floating in the air.
I am glad that Larry feels better and had tried to go skiing. A pity the problem of the piece of ski gear.
Nice work, my friend.

nice framing showing the pine trees and the pieces of snow falling, creating a soft view of the place. I liked the contrast between the darker background and these snow flakes.beautiful

hi Pat,
this looks absolutely surreal, the flash worked very well to bring out the snowflakes and show how heavy the snowfall was. the whole scene reminds me of those glass balls that you have to shake to create a similar "snowstorm". great shot, I liek it a lot.
best,
Kristine

Pat,
Very cool, or cold should I say, to be photographing as it really coming down. Wow, in chunks, almost like some seen on Christmas card except this is natural and doesn't have all the perfect snow flakes pattern like on the card. A very nice documentation of the weather condition yet atistically composed. Thanks

Hello Pat -
Using the flash to freeze the snow flakes made for a wonderful effect. I don't miss this stuff at all! Even though that during and just after the snowfall it is really beautiful and refreshing. Well done.
Go Larry Go!
Thank you for sharing.

Hello Pat,
I notice the date March 16!
It sort of feels better for me to know since we too had snow three days ago, I did take some pictures but will probably keep them for myself hehehe...
You capture the atmosphere well, the flask works well to freeze the movement of snowflakes!
Greetings,

That is snowing! You know, I only have seen light snowing in all my life. In here I like to see the many centimeters of snow on top of those little poles. It is fantastic. The light is perfect and the falling snow adds a very dynamic sense to the picture. Well done.

Hi Pat,
Lovely mid-March winter wonderland shot with those huge flakes seen in the lovely low evening light.
The giant evergreens make stand out brilliantly against the blue sky and lovely falling snow.

Hello Pat,
This winter scene captured in the spring makes a holiday mood, not putting it down, but picking it up. The falling snow is seen very clearly and brightly due to the flash set on. Very artistic and romantic picture!

Hi, Pat -
Glad to hear Larry's feeling OK.
Snow falling is never as easy to photograph as it looks. Fortunately, you had nice big clumps here to make it easier. Interesting light, and very emblematic of a big snowfall.
Best,
