Lava Butte is a 500 foot high red volcanic cinder cone within the Newberry Volcano National Monument. A forest service lookout sits on top and is open to the public. This monument has many igneous features including a forest of lava coated trees, Oregon's longest lava tube, an obsidian flow from 1,300 years ago covering 700 acres, and the Newberry Caldera used by the NASA's Apollo program to train astronauts in a simulated moon surface.

Located just south of Bend, Oregon next to Highway 97.
