[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
The Very Large Array, one of the world's premier astronomical radio observatories, consists of 27 radio antennas in a Y-shaped configuration on the Plains of San Agustin fifty miles west of Socorro, New Mexico. Each antenna is 25 meters (82 feet) in diameter. The data from the antennas is combined electronically to give the resolution of an antenna 36km (22 miles) across, with the sensitivity of a dish 130 meters (422 feet) in diameter. Good shot Don,

I've seen these antennas on many occasion (all on TV). They are VERY impressive indeed. Your composition is quite good with the larger foreground one a good compositional spot. Nice colors and a bright and bold contrast with the white of the antennas and the contrasting dark shadows of the boxes on the ground. The white striped in the frame compliments it nicely.

Cheers!

Hi, Don, welcome to TE!

A beautiful photograph, absolutely crisp and with great coloring, and an excellent TE selection. We get a nice sense of the immensity of the equipment here.

Regards,
Dan

Hello Don,

As a professor of physics I love this shot. You've chosen an exceptionally good vantage point to show several of the gleaming white radio dishes against the deep blue of the sky. I'm delighted to see this image posted on Trekearth. Your short but informative note sheds some critical light on the VLA.

Warm regards,

Bulent

Hello, Don -
I never tire of seeing photos of this place, and I particularly like this one. Great POV shows the massive dishes in a nice graphic arrangement. The colors are vivid and the light is perfectly managed. Great subject, great shot!

A very impressive view!
You used an idea angle to capture it and the nice blue sky helps very good here.
Cheers

Hi Don. very very interesting photo and perfect colours and composition, thanks for shareing, regards from Tale

Wow,

Like in the UFO movies. Cool scene with cool saturated colors, that's all I have o say.

Regards

The VLA is really out in no where land, as I recall, so you must have really wanted to go there or had work there. This shot does it justice, although the "marshmallows" look pretty eerie from a distance too. Deep blue sky due to PP or to polarizer? The white dishes really pop against it. Nice!
