San Francisco de Asis Church
Rancho de Taos, New Mexico

This beautiful little church is just south of the town of Taos, New Mexico. It is one of the most photographed and painted churches in the US, including renderings by artists such as Georgia O'Keeffe and Ansel Adams.

From the Historical Marker at the Site...
"This mission church is one of the oldest churches in America dedicated to San Francisco de Asis. It was constructed between 1813 and 1815 under the direction of Franciscan Fray Jose Benito Pereyro. It is an outstanding example of adobe mission architecture. This church continues to this day to be a place of worship and an integral part of the community."

I love this church shot, and you've taken absolutely the right approach here - FILL THE FRAME with this huge THING.

I'm really not sure what I would make of this without the accompanying note!

I agree with Colin,
Not sure how I would interpret this construction were it not for your note. Interesting piece of architecture. I like your POV but am curious what other POVs there are. I saw O'Keeffe's vantage point -- tfs. Taken any shots which show the entrance?
